Situation. Hero is in BB with 33 and 6800 in chips in the early rounds of a $25 GTD tourney on ACR. Villain is in the SB with 5700 chips. It is folded around to the SB. He had not been at the table very long so I had no read on him. I know he probably didn't have much, but I folded because I figured that 33 would be against two overs in nearly any situation except against 22, which is a longshot and I didn't feel like flipping a coin for most of my stack was the right move this early in a tournament. Who agrees or disagrees and why?

Side note: I finished 6th, he was moved to another table and didn't make the final table.

You need to put in more info on the hand when posting. You didn't say if the SB shoved, minraised etc, and you also didn't say what the blinds were. It is hard to give any advice without knowing stack sizes or the blinds.

Oh, it was early, I think the blinds were 50 and 100 and he shoved preflop.

Hi. I would not venture to play with the cards - in mathematics. And so you need to rely on intuition and statistics. But most of all I would just threw the card.

3 3 is a fold imo. You said you didn't have any reads on your opponent and made the right play. The results speak for themselves. Good job!

I'm not really sure of the question. However, if it is whether or not to fold 33 to an all in, the answer is yes. Doesn't matter if you didn't think he had much or anything like that. There is no reason to put your chips at risk for no good reason.

I will say I am amazed at how many I see call off here all the time, then throw fits when they lose.

i might probably call the all in if this is a freeroll or a micro tournament. In order to win a mtt you need to have lot of luck and win some flips so i think calling might be the best choice here. If utg made the all in then i would consider folding however sb might just try to steal the blinds even though both have more than 50bb left.

I guess I would have folded also. 33 doesn't work well most times.

If he shoved all-in, it's a snap fold.

If he made a standard raise, it's a snap call.

You wrote that the rates of 50 and 100. If it is raised to 4b I would call. If more or Ollin the fold. But the best is. that you did.

You definately made the correct play folding to a 55 bb shove , 33 is not a hand you want to be calling all ins with because like you said you will be flipping at best . With this many chips and these blind levels you have no need to gamble at this point in the tournament .

Thanks everyone, I felt it was the right play both mathematically and strategically, but then I do see a lot of people with a call here because you do have a small edge over two unpaired cards. Personally, I don't like to be in a situation when I am basically flipping, most of the time I do get all in I am at least 65-35 and that's really where my comfort level is.

You are flipping against any two random cards that do not include a 2. So folding there is correct for that price when you have 60bb....
If you needed to double up you should consider calling there

You never mentioned how much the SB bet preflop. I'm guessing that he did though and I believe you made the right move unless his bet defined his hand pretty well. However, you don't want to get messy with pocket 3's. If it were lets say 10's, then I would have flat called to see the flop and awaited his action since he would be first to act. Nice hand

Some other info would be important, but considering the info you´ve put I would fold.

Definitely fold. Small pairs are so sick even getting set. Higher set crash on you and you cant do anything.
