is it a good play to c bet late in a tourney when the bet will cost you 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, of your stack? say blinds 250/500/50 you raise to 1500 and button callls, blinds fold, so pots about 4500 and you have about 12k left. you have AK off and the flop is Q72 rainbow. a cbet here will cost u atleast 1/4 off your stack.and a double barrell if called or raised would leave you really crippled. i seem to be losing alot of chips in these spots... i dont cbet everytime i raise, but usually late in the tourney i tend to because there is more money in the pot and im trying to take it down....

I'd still keep c-betting AK on flops like that semi-deep in tournaments, short-term variance shouldn't discourage you from the cbets.

Playing deep in tourneys, if you c bet every hand you raise with there is no way to determine if your bluffing or have it. Soo they will be put to the test and you can make the plays.

Well I think it really has something to do with what you wanna acomplish with the C-Bet.
But Obv. c-bet and fold is bad with that stack siezes.
You can c-bet to induce, c-bet for value, c-bet for pot control, c-bet for bluffing ...

You should consider if the other player is loose, passive etc. Is he re-raising a lot and is he vulnerable to 3-bets. I you are late in the tournament I wouldn't c-bet tbh.

There are many things to consider when c-betting, but most important would be the tendancies of the player you are against in the hand. if they often shove when they hit the board, if they often fold when they hit nothing, do they semi bluff all in with strong draws, all these factors and more should be considered befor you act.

I would keep C betting. If the button has been a tight player & re raised me I would lay it down.

Would C betting a smaller amount be a smart play? like in the example he gave 250/500/50 4,500 pot 12k left instead of c betting 2,250-3,500 bet 750-1,200?

I feel like a small C bet late in the tourney will do the same thing as a big c bet while protecting your chips

Lemme know what you guys think cause I'm not saying this is what you should do I am asking if it is a good play

Terrible advice he has no clue do not do this.

Don't 3x? Min raise or 2.3 or something, that thus will allow our cbets to be smaller but still effective and our barreling easier because its smaller. Your probably losing a lot of chips via 3xing and building larger pots than necessary.

Agreed. I am fine with 3x open early in tournaments but at the late stages you really need to drop that down. It will still accomplish the same thing while allowing you the ability to get away from hands which you would otherwise be pot committed.
