I have considered myself an above average tournament poker player for quite a while. I play a decent amount of multiple day tournaments (live obviously) i usually do really well in the early levels and i would say bag up average stacks. How do i make some changes in my play to take more chances to accumlate more chips in the middle levels of the tournament. My 20 bb game is also very strong but feel the 30 to 45 bb stack has always been a weakness

I think at 20 BB you need to protect plaidy and especially to steal from the small blind and from the button or cut off

The only way to get a "monster stack" is simply to catch cards and connect on flops. No secret there. Some tourneys you will catch cards more often than others, just luck.

I've had days I catch cards early and get a big stack, only to go dead and the stacks even out. Other days I struggle early and catch cards mid tourney and chip up then.

The real problem is that you are going to be limited by the stage of the tourney. If you start with 1500 chips, you have 9000 chips early, a lot of the time you just don't have a big villain to make a huge difference in your stack.

Stay ahead of the blinds and usually you will end up where you need to be.

make more plays when ever you see an opportunity, especially on the button... it's hard to get a lot of big hands and hit the flop so you have to make plays. semi bluff your outs and don't show weakness in your bet sizing and raises.. make them look believable and follow through!

I agree with the above. Use position, short stacks on small and big blinds. I'd even min raise for a quick blind steal. Since you have represented a semi-bluff of a mid hand, I'd look for anything above a 10 on the flop, if the bet is checked to me. I'd do a min bet, as I'm not a fan of continuation bets. See what happens, be ready to fold with a raise. You might pick up the blinds with a weak hand or collect big with a good disconnected flop.

Early stages when everyone is deep you want to see more flops with a wider range of hands.

My advice to you is to play more agressive when you are in a position. Because 30 to 45 blinds is a decent stack wich allowes you to try to make some semibluffs. And always try to recognize players who try to stil blinds often than usually and than try your semibluffs. I hope it was helpful

Steal everything you can and give nothing back. That's the best strategy. Keep in mind, it is always better to steal than to risk a showdown. Play standard game and always use position to your advantage.

Use aggressive tactic I would say when in position to steal blinds and play your good hands better , very important to stay alive and build stack .
Bluff or semi bluff in position agaist one villain ,don't be afraid to c bet when you need to , risk or you won't have the opportunity to build a big stack ,that's what I would do anyway :)

Aggression is best to build a big stack but can also leave you with a view from the rail.

Monster stacks are made from monster players that play like monsters😎. You should focus more on playing for fun and getting used to play long hours but the secret is consistency not that u played once in a big tournament or that u played once 12h straight.I tend to motivate and play consistent using the level bar in pokerstar trying to achieve goale like silverstar supernova gold etc

hi,

position must be considered opportune if you need to accumulate monster stacks, building up the stack doesnt mean only doubling up on premium hands but also bluffing at button and small blind positions frequently if your opponenet is not a calling station.:smokin:

Playful knows how to build monster stacks but the problem is how to protect them from the short stackers
