Today I played a tournament in which 5608 people were enrolled. The tournament had a late registration period of 1 hour. unlimited rebuys and an add-on after the late registration period. Began at 12 o'clock. I played until 5 pm. As it was a satellite only the top 15 take a price.Y through everything and seen in this forum and all the advice I achieved the # 18. I never had achieved something like that in such a long tournament.
This was the situation and ask if my last hand was a bad desicion: I got JH, JD rise at two big blinds, one player called. The flop was 9 H, 7H, 6H. On this occasion pass and the other player bet me 4 big blinds, I did call. The turn was the A of diamonds, I bet 4 big blinds and the other player just called. The river was 9D. The player did check and I went all-in. He call. In the end he had 8,10 (straight). And I stayed only 3 places to get the prize.

the main concern that i would be looking at is, its the bubble time, you have JJ
the flop bet is fine you have an overpair but that is an extremely wet board, so dangerous that the opponent could have anything and if he plays back at you hard its unlikely your ahead

this begs the question, on the turn he checks you raise, he calls, so we know he has something but he checks again, this in turn should have sent alarm bells, by the river you can go all in but if your expecting a fold then you may aswell have checked it, and on that board its extremely unlikely unless he has you beat that he will call you.

that was the dilemma, you made it so only a hand that beats you (any ace, the straight, the flush) will call you, when in this spot if a player is calling you down, you may aswell check the river

I have been there a lot too so close in a satellite tournament but yet leaving with nothing it is not a good feeling.
With respect to the hand you should have just shoved preflop. It sounds like you were relatively short stacked, how many Big Blinds you started the hand with?
Picking up the blinds and antes without seeing the flop is huge in this situation.

I would need more info to really be able to help. What position were both of you in? Did you raise 2x BB or 3x BB pre-flop?

I would have raised on the flop not when an A came on the turn. Were you trying to rep the ace?

I don't like how the hand was played for several of reasons.

1. A 2x raise is really no raise at all and is showing weakness. Your going to get called by about any 2 cards.

2. You raised then checked the flop. You have to be aggressive.

3. You then bet an ace when you were clearly behind. At this point what could you really beat? You can't beat an ace, flush, 2 pair, set, this was just a bad bet.

4. River all in with nothing. Again, what can you beat? What show down value do you have? I would have called you with a wide range. You just took a horrible line. Your actions say I don't have much if anything.

I personally would have just shoved with JJ at this point. This hand shows the dangers of letting random hands call bigger pairs. Once they see the flop, you are not going to get them off the hand and it is very difficult to improve a pair.

Not trying to beat you up, I've done the same thing as have most people here. I just think you were getting too cute with a strong hand on the bubble. For me its a shove without hesitation and I don't think you get called or simply a fold if there are enough short stacks to blind to the money.

You have to be really tight on the satellite bubble, and while your hand analysis is a little unclear because it doesn't say about the amount of BB, I'm pretty sure the mistake you made was betting for very thin value of the river with the JJ (I assume you weren't turning your hand into a bluff). People won't call you with marginal holdings, so it isn't worth it.

Satellites are definitely good to play although they can be very frustrating and very weird. I remember one time when I thought I could fold to the money, but everyone seemed quite bubble aware, so I get blinded all the way down to 36 chips, which was less than a 1000th of an ante, before finally winning :p

I know its harsh for you. I've been through the same thing. I was scared that any move would kick me out of my dream. However time by time, and this situation particularly, you can go all-in if you were having postion & small stack
