I have a difficult time just sitting and paying attention on the table as I spend my time browsing the internet and stuff while playing. Does anyone else have that same problem? If so, what do you all do to combat that?

You need to focus on the game even if you fold, is the only way to figure out who is bluffing, who is a fish or a very tight player.
If you keep doing anything else you will not be a very good player. :deal:

I do if I'm only playing one or two tables. But now I listen to podcast while I'm playing or music if I'm not in the mood for discussions about AI's taking over the world. lol.

Sometimes I watch the latest episodes of my favorite TV serials. But this is very distracting. What was I saying? I'm a fish

better focus on the tables, specially if you are mtting then you can easily go into auto pilot and just make random decisions without even noticing that the level of your play is worse then your average.

No , never. I recommend to everyone who is playing to concentrate on his game. In this case you will have the opportunity to discover your opponents and see their behaviour in several situations.

I'm not in the habit, something to do during the game. It is a rare occasion when I was busy doing something. I need quiet. I will not know what is happening at the table. It is necessary to see the behavior of the players. I have to be up to date, otherwise I will take not a decision at a crucial moment

Not only do I browse the internets, but I'm usually flipping through a number of sites like: CC, youtube, reddit, buzzfeed, gmail, etc.

And on top of that, I'm probably binging a show on netflix. Or possibly playing BO2/BO3 on my PS3/PS4.

Or if I'm not doing that, I'm probably doing something else like folding laundry or cooking dinner.

I don't do anything to combat it because it's not a distraction for me. I usually play 1-2 MTTs at a time, so all I have to do is listen for the signal that it is my turn, look at the screen, quickly figure out what the action was and by whom (if any), and act accordingly. I just play a basic TAG style with a bit of gamble in the late stages.

So! Imagine yourself sitting at the table in the belagio in Vegas playing for a cool $1 million........ And you have your tablet with you and you are surfing the net for the latest branded shoes that you fancy buying, or you have a basket of washing that needs folding and you crack on with that, or you have a new book that you want to read? Are you really going to do these things? Or are you going to focus on your game to give yourself the best chance of winning.

The whole thing comes down to how much you want to win or how much you just want to use poker to pass the time.

It's entirely up to you.

I used to be the same. Now I listen to music and it helps a lot, I get to watch the tables and focus while also grooving to music haha. Also stops me from tilting, especially if it's my favourite song on

When I start play poker online I'm also distracted by the Internet or TV series, and did not pay attention to the situation at my table and of course this led me to a low figures. I paid no attention to my opponents, their style of play, I often bluffing if I did not get the flop. While I did not realize that I sit down at the table to win, not just to play, I did not show the result at all. Listen to music, podcasts, TV shows on the background, but keep an eye on your table and opponents. Dont miss a piece of luck at the table and you can go very deep in tournament. :)
