I have a 1500 BR and my question is how many buy ins should I be playing for SNG and MTT. Also what buy ins should I take a shot at with that BR . I have heard is 100 buy ins but need a good foundation to start . I would appreciate your help CC

100 buyin is usually the starting point.....conservative players might want to have 200 + for a safer route....

I have also always heard 100 buy-ins, and it seems like a good rule.

So $15 buy-ins should generally be your limit.

With small fields there will be less variance, so you could safely go up to $20 occasionally.

It's very strange that a person with a BR of 1.5k does not know how to use it ...

Stick to at least 100 buyins for MTT and 150 for SNG in my opinion!

Oh, not another one...

Questions:

  1. Do you have a full time job?
  2. Are you wanting to play as a main source of income or a backup source, or is it just for fun?
  3. How much is too much to lose?

One hundred buy-ins are quite decent, if not to exceed the rate of 10-15$ Bain...

For mtts with more people in them you need higher number of BI since you will cash less often, so for big mtts fields over 200 would be the better strategy for it

Start playing $3 MTTs which gives you 500 buyins. Then check your stats after around 100 tourneys...
If you make 3 - 5 buyins per tourney you play you move up the stakes....

It’s much better to lose out on a bit of profit by playing on low stakes in the beginning than to go broke because you start out with only 100 buy ins. If you start to low you can still move up. If you go broke playing to high then your whole bankroll is gone

I think 100-150 Buyins is a fine professional bankroll for MTTs. Good luck!

100 buyins for mtts and 50 buyins for stt, cash. Works well for me,
You can have less if your disciplined enough to move down when your no longer rolled for whatever buyin your at :D

With 1500 I personally would go with $10-$20 buy-ins for MTTs but if you wanna be extra cautious then $5-$10 buy-ins should be fine.

For SNGs I would do $20-$40.

It really depends on your skill and the skill of your average opponents.

The more buy-ins you have the less swings you will see. If you're just getting back into poker and think you need some practice at first then you should stick with $5 or lower at first.
