Ok so my standard bread and butter game was the $4.40 180 man non turbo Sit n go's. Unfortunately they also take about 4 hours to run so need a full day to run a decent session. I did fairly well making about $17/hr playing these games.

I need a sit n go or tournament format that runs start to finish in less than 2 hours, so far i have thought of,

45/180 man turbo on stars
90man KO on tilt
or 130 player rush tournaments.

Problems i see are that 45/180's have very high variance. I also have no experience playing rush.

What do y'all recommend for BR building - are there any others that you would suggest?

I would give the $4.40 rush a shot. They're not limited to 135 any more, so anywhere from 200-400 people play depending on the time. I haven't played many of these (less then 5), but I have played a good amount at the 1.10 level and at either level the plays is similar. Just a lot of stupid shoves at the 1.10 level.

There's a fairly basic strategy to use when playing these. I suggest watching the Videos in King Curtis post and reading cardriverx's strategy here

KC made the post when they were still at a 135 max, but the videos still show the solid style of play you need to use.

Cardriverx's post outlines everything you need to know.

I think that if you put in the time with these you should be able to get the hang of them and find yourself making quite a few final tables.

Oh, and these tournies finish up right around 2 hours.

I have had alot of success playing the single table SNGs. The non turbo ones take about an hour and as far as I have experienced they are not very high variance.

I like the smaller SnGs until I realized I was not as profitable at them as I thought. The 9 player does play 33% of the entries, but there is a BIG difference between getting down to 4 or 5 players and breaking through that bubble...My current struggle.

I used to favor the 27 and 45 player regular speed formats and both of those seem to take 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours depending on your table mates...

If you are looking to build a roll, I would think you would want a smaller field (provided the payout structure was correct) than a larger field that pays closer to 10% of the field.

I do watch the On Demand tournaments that FTP offers. Depending on when the tournament entry ends and how many entries they have, the payout can range from 10% - 15+% of the entries. At right at 190 entries, the tournament pays 27 places. That seems to be a pretty decent investment. I am sure you could get in a turbo one of these that would take around the 2 hour mark.

You making $17 an hour playing poker seems pretty dang good, I believe I only average a buck an hour. Are you putting in a 20 hour poker week?

currently putting in 0 hours a week as i dont have time. I know that i can comfortably jump back into 180s and make around $14/hr straight away and push that back up with practice but want a quicker alternative.

The best bankroll builder sng´sat the micros are the 45man´s in my opinion. Followed by the 180man´s, both turbos on Stars. For instance the $3.25 45´s and the $2.20 180´s. The satellites are also great bankroll builder (and have lower variance), or instanve the $2.20 sats, where 6 people win $11.

These are amazingly soft and I used them to get money to satty into this weeks Mill and now using them as a BR builder since I withdrew most of my roll to go away with. March will be spent grinding these for me.

Because if its any way decent then your mad in the head to be looking for any other game.

750-800 tournaments, its simply a matter of time restrictions due to a change in job, and wanting to actually sleep at some point :)

dw, will be returning to these when my contract runs and i have more completely free days.

Personally I recommend 9 man turbos on tilt, 2.25 or 5.50, the play is very similar and the variance is quite low if you avoid the early shovers, Also they're very easy to multi table and the fact that it pays 33% makes it very easy to make a solid /hr rate if you know the style
