I have decided to enroll in one of bovadas micro tourneys this weekend, like a $2 1k guarantee, or something like that. I am sure there will be a lot of bad play at this level but wanted to get some feedback on what to expect and so forth. I mostly play live so online is kind of new to me. Any suggestions on strategy and whatnot would be helpful. Thank you

Strategies in MTT

I joined Bovado a few weeks ago and have enjoyed the site.
I dont play many micro tournaments. I usually play the $10 - $30MTT range but have played some higher and some lower games as well.
Here is what I have found online. In the early stages of the tournaments, players are trying to chip up fast so you see more reckless play and many unfortunate beats. That seems to change once the games get into the 150-300 blind range. Players tend to protect their chips more except for players that have less than 1500 and their only play seems to be ALL IN.
I tend to buy in late on most games. Somewhere around the first break. Games have late registration until 65 min for most and some are even longer. I can avoid the loose play this way.
I have a higher the 50% ITM ratio so far.
I played a $10MTT $8000 guarantee yesterday that had 1025 players and placed 25th. Thats the 2.5 percentile. Just under 5 hours of play. In the entire game I played only 15 hands past the flop and was only dealt 9 pocket pair.
The point being, PATIENCE is the key to the MTT tournys. I'm usually watching TV or writing software when I play. I have multiple screens to make this easier to do.
One thing I DONT like about bovado is the anonymous players.
You cant make notes for future play because the player numbers change at every tournament.
Hope this info help.
If you want any other pointers you can PM me as well.

I wouldn't assume that there is a level of bad play. Since Bovada does not have unique usernames, there IS a lot more position play that I have seen. Good luck to you this weekend!

This^ I like to buy in after 30 minutes. This seems to get rid of alot of craziness.
Patience is truly the key at Bovada,

Bovada is full of really, really bad players, even the CC $5 buy in plays like a play table freeroll, patience & tight play is the way to go.

If I were you, I would try to play multiple micro tourneys simultaneously to get the best results. Put in bigger volume, get bigger results.
