If I play onlie it's at bovada. I used to like the anonymous thing, but not anymore. Some folks here at CC opened my eyes to this.

I prefer live poker, and I rarely play online. However, good luck to you there. Also, welcome to the forum (you are new I see).

Nice to see that you realize the importance of keeping notes on other players but also important to keep them on yourself. The mind likes to play tricks so I write down every session that I played whether ring or tourney.

i have played there for the last several months off and on because of their promos. However i am very cautious with online poker because you know where there is money their are thieves.i have never ventured out of the micro stages because i hate their system. you cant take notes on players so there is noway o protect yourself from sitting down with questionable players or quite frankly house players .i have watched the higher limit ring games and some really strange (fishy) stuff happens.until they start using screen names i will never trust it enough to play beyond micro, or the way i feel now maybe at all.

Why do you no longer like the anonymous function? I love it because I'm actually a tight player that likes to bluff small pots. It gives people the table image that I'm loose which is a great thing for me. Even before BF, I never used the player tracking software like PokerTracker. The way I look at it, no one is getting an unfair advantage over me because of third party software. It sucks that you can't make notes like "Loose fish, will call anything" but I think it's a fair price to pay. You said people opened your eyes about it.....is there some reason it's not a good thing that I'm not aware of?

Because I can't take notes. When I go to the live poker room, I know how certain people play. This helps me, not having to learn everybody's game every time i sit down.

But generally I prefer live poker, so I don't really care anyways. I will never make a sizable deposit to any site. $20 or $30 is all I will ever deposit. I withdraw when i get to $200 usually, like if I hit a good MTT payday.

Oh ok, that makes sense. I guess I just don't value the notes as highly as the average player even though I do think they are very handy. I've successfully started homegames and pwned my friends for good money but I've never played in a casino. Hope I get a chance to this year sometime

I have been playing bovada a lot last 4 months or so too. I,m starting to really like it there. I don't mind the anonymous so much anymore, i got used to it. It is hard in a long tournament though when u move tables. I click the little colored squares in the notes page, for how i think they play, and it helps a little when they come to the table again later in the tournament. In a new tournament, of course, you have to start over again , but i still like it there for now.

There is a notes tab by the chat tab.

Yes. I know this. Those notes are only saved until the player leaves the table, or until the tournament ends. So you must learn everyone's game every time you sit down.

I am about the same the quadruple ups are sweet. Started out focusing on the MTT satellites for 11$ tickets. However I want to get better at cash, we maybe playing on the same tables some time in the 5-10 PLO.

LongFace have you tried the Omaha Hi\Lo hyper turbo they have in the morning for 5$?

ya im sure we have been playing the same tables from time time but we are never going to know when i guess. due to the scarcity of available omaha games i am also playing hilo cash sometimes, i would prefer not to to but its out of a need to accrue poker points for the weekly bonus, and i can hold my own in hilo. the thing with hilo tho is have2play a significantly lower pct of starting hands, unless i want to lose my azz lol.

on the $5 hilo hyper turbo, ya i seen it, but never played. maybe in the future when/if get my account to more $. 5 is a bit of out good br mgmt for me right now. i am ok with the $5 quadruple up from time to time because itm % on those for me is high.

the quadruple ups are great. I wish they had more of them with gaurantees since they always hit it anyway...if they dont have anything then only like 10-20 people are registered. i stopped playing with them mostly because i turned a 100 buck deposit into 3 grand(mostly blackjack) but about a week after the deposit i figured well ill cash out 2500 and play poker with 500. then i saw cashouts were like 45 business days on average, and read from others that they were waiting 4 months or more.....after 2 weeks my payout wasnt even processed and eventually just ended up losing all of it...was pretty ticked off.....

fyi i heard they are a lot better now with cashouts. not like they used to be with you can cashout monday and get it friday but its like 2 weeks now or so i heard. I just thought the whole 3-4 months is ridiculous. i understand they are trying to figure out a faster way and they were switching processors or something but people gamble for immediate gratification.....case and point people that win the lottery 95% of the time take a lump sum even though they lose a crap load to taxes... you dont play the lottery to get a steady check to be comfortable for the next 20 years and you dont play poker/blackjack to get a check for your winnings months later....if you had the option to cashout 500 and get 450 the next day in your bank account or 750 in an installment of 5 or 6 checks once a month or so wouldnt you go with option a?

I played there for about a year. It's ok if you don't mind the possibility that you may be playing against some bots. I have reasons for believing bots are employed at Bovada but of course no proof other than circumstantial. The anonymous format is perfect for bots - maybe that's why they (allegedly) do it.

I'm definitely new to online holdem. I researched all around and it seemed bovada would be a good starting point and allowed US real money play. I am now seeing the downside of the anonymous 'thing' but don't know where a better alternative is at this point.

Any comments are appreciated.

I started playing Bovada almost a year ago because I liked their offering of sng games. I saw that the 9 player $5 SNGs fill up reasonably quickly on Bovada, so I deposited there. The lack of player notes never bothered me because previously, I played on FTP and it was so rare to encounter the same players in different games, my note-taking was not very useful. Ironically, because of the smaller population of players on Bovada, the notes would probably be much more useful. But I have been getting along fine without them.

I don't play many cash games, so my perspective on notes will obviously be different from those guys.

imo, anonymous tables and 4-table limit suck, but customer support and cashouts are by far the best of US facing sites

FYI...cashed out some money from Bovada on Jan 3rd. They tried to deliver the check on the 18th but I wasn't home. They returned on Monday the 21st and delivered it then.

thats not a bad cashout time frame at all. last year this is the time it started backing up a lot and by may it was just why bother. i just read so many complaints and saw the average time frame and it was just depressing. ive only made a few deposits in the last year there and never turned it into anything worth cashing. the last cashout i recieved from them was like 4 days though so that was awesome. its what tipped the scale for wanting to play there over the other limited options.
