I've been thinking of dabbling a bit in bounty MTTs and I wanted to ask all you guys if ye have any specific plan of action when you're going into these KO tourneys?

Extra agg?
Slow and steady then bully?

What's your optimal bounty strategy?

In the early phase stay tight and dont call/shove with marginal hands because when a player moves all-in, some of the player would call them with very marginal holdings in hopes of busting them out and receiving their bounty money.

I play tighter than usual, although I generally avoid KOs mtts excepts obviously exist. You are really in the long run sacrificing EV i believe. Use the proclivity of other players whom you ID as seeking Bountys to overplay certain premium hands in good situations generally pre-flop to over bet and sometimes even push with top tier hands and a good read; these ID'd villains have a higher proclivity to overcall seeking KO $. Don't as with any foreign concept over integrate as I have been often guilty of... see where it ties in with your approach be it TAG or LAG.
GL and keep us appraised.

Play as conservative as you can, and when you see a spot to attack the blinds do it!
A lot of the times you won't get chances to attack the blinds until around the money bubble's.
Everyone is trying to bust out everyone in these knockout tourney's and they would rather risk their entire stack just for the dollar bounty (or more)

Thanks guys.

I was expecting advice toward a more lag approach so I'm glad I asked.
Theres a major on PP tonight so I'm feeling much more confident now.

tARsh, what you said about possibly sacrificing EV more in bounties has me thinkin and it will definitely help me keep my shit together tonight.

Cheers again for the replies.

i really think for the most part you should just pretend like the bounties dont exist, that being said you should be opportunistic when you see a chance to get a bounty

usually it doesnt make sense to make an icm mistake to go after a bounty-there are cases where this is not true- for example the sngs on stars where there is a bounty on a stars pro(in this case the bounty is bigger than 1st place money)

Thats the plan I've settled on. Realised the people with 10+ bounties are few and far between and there are a good few chip leaders with little or no bounties toward the bubble anyway.

Cool. Didnt know about those. What kind of BI are you talking for one of those? Probably way above my current stake level.

Tight aggressive with deep stacks. Latestage I usually go rather loose-aggressive as usually.

Of course try to knock out small stacks much more than in regular tournaments. Many players make mistake not calling with any2 vs. some player who has like 1/10 of starting stack left and they're last to act. But not me.

building onto what he said: it's important to cover as many effective stacks as you can (even by 1 chip); this way, when the time comes, you can cover them for bounty and not allow another runner to take him out of his 23 [or so] remaining chips.

personally, i play many hands, in the small blinds as others are playing hyper aggressive and super tight to build a stack. They get nibbled on by blinds and become a shorter stack than I am. When it's time for them to try to shove and double up, I'm waiting.

To win in the knockouts, it is necessary to adhere to the standard tactics of the game of poker. That is, to play cards.

You should play normal at the beginning. It is not worth to risk your 5$ buy in for 1$ bounty. Yes there are ko frenzy on 888 where the bounty is 90% of the buy in, but that is a bingo. If you build up a big stack then you can call some shortstacks with marginal hands if you are last to play in the current hand. Avoid calling shortstacks if your position is just after theirs because the other players as well will try to take that bounty and therefore maybe shove and you will find yourself in difficult situation.
