1) Seeing your cards before the action gets to you = I think this is a big
difference and results in people deciding on their course of action too
soon and can lead to playing way too many hands. I do my best when
I am very detached from the screen - even to the point of stretching
and walking out of the room between hands Im involved in.

2) Pace of play - In an individual tourney, I feel the pace of play is
way too slow - I know many players multi - table and that is fine
I can play 3 tourneys and not feel too much pressure but I really
like to notice all the subtleties going on. Live poker there is rhythm
to the play and conversations that I just don't feel online.

3) Anonymity and hostility - There is so much random garbage being
spewed in the chat box its crazy - also I tend to recognize player
betting patterns quickly but not being able to look at the player
and sense their strength or weakness in a particular hand is a
definite disadvantage for me.

I play mostly live and I have a very hard time with not being able to get a read on an opponent when I play online.

I would say the biggest difference is how tight/loose people play and call online vs live. I see a lot of members here (it seems the majority here are online players) on threads saying they insta call with certain hand that for me is a tough decision and possibly a fold live.

same feeling.

The consensus from online players in these forums tends to be something like "If you're ahead of their range you should drop the hammer and play a huge pot" which I think stems from the fact that when you multitable you're going to have lots of volume and opportunities for these plays to work out long term.

Live is a different beast...If you play a huge pot with a 5% advantage then 45% of the time you're going to be done playing poker for the rest of the day, maybe even the rest of the week. You don't get to try spots like this endlessly until you finally amass a huge stack so a measure of caution is wise in live play.

You don't have to jump on a small edge now if doing so possibly eliminates your chances to capitalize on the many larger edges that will be presented to you throughout the tourney.

Live it is easier to read you opponents, especially if you already have good hand reading skills from online. You get tons of time when not in a hand to create a book on your opponents - tells, betting habits, hand ranges etc. Most of the players are terrible. Many live players play so face up it is ridiculous. Plus you can use all kinds of ploys to get calls or folds that just are not available online.
