I often find myself the big stack on my table in a MTT. often times twice as big stacked as the next biggest stack but I find that I really don't know how to take advantage of this situation. What are some of the things I can do to take advantage of my big stack? What is the prescribed play? etc?

play hard and try to continue to draw cards to those who have less than you, but beware aggressive bets against you can drop like flies

Well having a large stack allows you to bully the smaller stacks.. stealing blinds should be easier as should bluffing as you can afford to bet larger...

Some large stacks go all fishy and limp into lots of flops or just play a lot looser generally...

If you are a good enough player to get a stack twice the size of the next best then why not simply carry on playing in the same manner that got you to that position?

For me personally, having a big stack affords me more time to play patiently and wait for the right cards in the right position

I agree with Tosh 67 completely. That is sound advice. Play your game all the way to the FT. Be careful about getting into all in pots with AK, AQ and AJ. and small pairs when you get close to the bubble. Take your time to think about every hand. Have patience and let the right cards come to you. You are the chip leader and you don't have to make anything happen like the smaller stacks have to. GL to you

I agree too with Tosh67 and PapaC, when you are the big stack on table, it's more easy for you stollen the blinds and for you do some bluffs that you couldn't when you have 10BB or 15BB.
But one big mistake that happens is when people get the large stack they become play alll hands and just limp... that is a big mistake, you dont need to play every hand, just because you are the big stack.
You could play a little less tight, but not go crazy.

You've gotten some very sound advice above. Just be careful to not chase. Don't throw good money after bad. Play tight until you have a premium hand, then get aggressive. Trying to bluff too much to steal blinds may be a sure way to turn your huge stack into a small one.

I agree with what the others are saying here. But I would add if the table conditions give you a chance to bully and take advantage of blind stealing go for it! This should be done almost anytime the opportunity presents itself, the bigger stack just takes risk out of the equation if you play smart when you encounter resistance!

Obviously, what ever you are doing to get your big stack, is what works best for you. So, just keep doing what ever you normally do. If you start trying to do things you are not comfortable with, you can loose a lot of chips. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Can't disagree with those that say keep doing what you're doing. But you asked .

Really pay attention to stack sizes. When you're in first place you are not going home this hand. Anyone who gets it in with you may be. Pick match ups that keep the mid stacks off balance. Put small stacks to the test with a wider range. Even pick on other large stacks with the right cards. Don't forget chips are your weapon And everyone else is out-gunned.

I wouldn't suggest trying to bully without having atleast something up your sleeve. Trying to buy a decent pot when you have 2/7 off suite and the board is k/k/10/9 or something with 2 suited cards and 2 or more people still in the hand would be a horrible idea. Most likely someone has the nuts or close to it and will call anything you do. Poker is all about taking advantage of situations and knowing when to just bail out......atleast in my opinion, situation/position over cards any day! :)

look for the limpers and raise 4 times their call, even with 2 low cards your chance off a caller is slim in the right position on the table

Yeah keep it real and stick with your normal game plan.
The only difference in my game is. I might consider positional steals with marginal hands if my opponents have shown some sort of weekness.

I play a lot off progressive knockouts..in first hour i play really agressive so i am out, or in same place!! I try to tigten up my play, because people tends to play more with bigstacks thinking that you play almost any two..so wait liitle and iff you catch huge hand you will get paid..iff not you will be in nice position even after hour off throwing cards and with good imagge for stealing bigger blinds after it..

sometimes thats a problem with me,when i have big stack im more likely to call some hands i wouldn't,and unconsciusly open range of cards entering a pot.thats a bad thing...we just need to stay focused and concentraded and play our own game regardless of stack

It is necessary to steal the blinds , put pressure on opponents stack and thereby increasing his stack

Use your stack to bully the small ones.

With huge chips, you can do everything.

Compared to a limited stack, their moves are limited likewise.

Use to stack for your advantage, play aggressive a little bit and try to steal the blinds but be careful and try to play as well as you can with nice cards like AA KK or AK QK or pairs

Expand your hand range and take advantage of the small stacks especially around the bubble.

in my opinion,is very important in that moment to know the players against you play and try to win pots when they are really weak...and when i have a very good hand i make stange bets:)
