To explain my point I will use hand that I played recently.
60 seat sit go 6 handed. 0.02 $
Loose novice players sitting with me ( who like to call).
Early stage of the torunament.
Blinds 15/30
UTG folds
Middle position (2040) raise to 105
CO Folds button folds
Me SB (1035) call with
BB (970) calls.
pot 315
(there is nothing suggesting MP has a bigger pair than 99+ because he would simply shove as he done it before, however I suspect he holds decent cards hence his raise pre flop) (BB holdings unknown he has a very wide range)
Flop
I donk bet the flop with a pot size bet 315.
BB folds
MP goes all in 1935
I call
MP showes He has two overcards and a flush draw. 15 outs
I put the hand into equity calculator and I found out that despite i had a made hand on the flop I had only 43% equity and he was 54% favourite to win at that point.
My question is: even if i knew what he had wouldn't be better to throw my pair of 9 away if I knew he was going to call no matter what. and also did I play my hand correctly? Was my opponent right to go all in ?
He got queen of heart on the river and I lost my tourney life.
