you have position. I personally will always raise liuke 2-3rds of the pot and rather quickly. I think min bet usually is really weak and its probably betting with a jack or a gut shot, maybe even a weak ace but a quick reraise should get all 3 of those to fold. the only case it makes sense with another hand is if he hit aj 2 pair or a set of 3s..

I would also re-raise, like half of pot. In case he goes all-in, I would fold.

I did chose the raise fold option in the game...but I do notice this situations popping up more and more. Sometimes I get so mad at the board and the bet that I end up shoving into a set or weak ace that calls.

For some reason Im the only one that would call her ad reevaluate the turn? Why throw away the equity you might have in the hand? He could easily have a J here or 2 broadway cards trying to catch his straight.

I could see what happens on the turn but I like to people to reveal their traps if it is one instead of check calling with worst hand

Given that you've seen this situation before, what does the weak lead tend to mean? Have you seen this player do it before?

I haven't seen this player do this before and I just wanted him to declare whether I was ahead.....At the time however I was thinking of how great a bet it would be into me with a flopped set and getting me to 3bet with 2nd pair...so I was weary of it being a trap so I thought to take an aggressive stance and if he raised I could still fold feeling ok.

I probably wouldn't just call becuase it gives me no information on his hand if he is drawing I don't want him to draw for free I want him to pay to see his draw if you raise an he re-raises now you have information that you are probably beat in this spot and can fold but if goes check check then he bets the turn now your faced with another decision with no information (just my opinion/thinking

That sums up my thinking exactly..... however I was reading this and wondering. .... how do we play it if we raise and then he flats. .

Hard to give the limpers a hand range with out kinowing the blinds/stakes. This is the flop you hope for having position and isolating limpers. I would raise 600 on the flop to fold out any a-rags, and find out if your beat.

I think your gut was right

I see this play all the time at free rolls and lower buy in tournaments. Instead of checking and hoping to get a card they make a tiny bet hoping that you will call and give them an extremely cheap draw.

I would say that you will run into the occasional set every now and then but I am sure the long term +ev play is to raise and find out where you are.

Mind you that is completely read independent of the better.
