As many of you might know, there are several leaderboards around on nearly all poker sites.

If you play them you want to do consistently good in them, obviously you go for the win - every time! But it's nearly impossible to win every time, we all know that.. Sometimes we get unlucky or go just play retarded :banghead:

So, if you want to do consistently good in those tournaments, how would you suggest they should be played? And should one try to play them all (even if you lose points by busting out early)?

I don't know if I fully understand the question because to me the answer seems quite simple: Play them all, and play your best in each one.

The only time I would switch it up is if it comes to the end of the leaderboard "challenge" and you have first in that challenge almost locked up, but still in a tourney. In the tourney, you may just need to not bust in the next couple spots and you will win the leaderboard thing, if that's the case, and you really want to win it, tighten up for a bit until you have it locked, then go back to your regular game.

Don't know how many of you know about it, but on pokerstars they have this leaderboard: http://www.intellipoker.dk/leagues/Open-League/leaderboard
I couldn't find a url for the standing in english, so it's in danish, but the idea is clear)

If you want to find more info about it, you can go to http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/league and find it in english.

Those are the tours where you will lose points if you bust early. Their formula to how many points you earn or lose is not for regular people, but in short: the more points you have the better you have to do in order to earn points.

Well for me, youll have to play them all.
If youre aiming for that leaderboard, you have to be aware of placement.

Most league leaderboard events do not have you lose points when you bust out early. I believe the ones you are referring to are specifically the pokerschoolonline leagues. (I've never heard of anyother league that subtracts pts. from your total for poor placings in tourneys... more often they take your best 10 tournaments, or they drop your high score & low score, etc. etc. and just award pts. for placing).

To get a decent answer for your question I think you really need to post it on the pso forum 'or' find some members here on Cardschat who also participate in those tournament leaderboards. (I know there used to be some threads on here with information on them).
Personally I have no clue what strategy you need to employ as I've never participated in them. Maybe try doing a thread search on here & you'll be able to hook up with some others who know the answers/advice for you.
As far as I can remember, blinding down & outlasting/surviving had more value then accumulating chips & going for the win (similiar to how a satellite plays) but like I mentioned, I really don't know the answers you're looking for.

the pso leaderboard is odd because you also lose points if you don't play, its done basically starting everyone at like 1500 points and you gain and lose and there seems to be a lot of basis around the average score which is why you lose if you don't play (it kinda sucks in essense because it gives huge advantage IMO to someone who can play every game, hell sometimes even just registering and not playing can gain you points because so many people go out quickly).

You need a min number of games to play but from what I have seen you could probably bink a few early and even if you had min games prb be back at the bottom by the end of the month (just seeing as you lose points by not playing but can also lose them if you play and go out too early)....its an odd system but suppose there is some reason behind it being done the way it is.

If you are in the top of leaderboard in open skill legue at the end of the month on pokerstars you have to end up in the top 10 % in every tournemt not to get minus point. So select you tournaments with care.

bankroll mob is different no minus point. So jere just go ahead and play

This is what my thoughts are too. If you feel like you have a bad day, don't play the open skill league that day, it'll end up losing you points, which isn't the way to win :D

As for the bankrollmob leaderboard, it's somewhat more difficult to earn points as there are so many in those tours who doesn't actually play for the leaderboard (they might not even be registered for it), so they play retarded, and some of them gets paid by doing so. Good thing is there's no negative points in those. That would be horrible :))

I think the best way to get success in these leaderboard tournies is to play tight...
Also as u will be playing against the same set of players, its important that u make good notes on every one...this one will surely help u lot in getting up in the leaderboards...
