I've been playing around 1 mil hands since i started playing poker, pretty much all of them on cash game.

Sure, I've played some SnGs and some FPP-tourneys, but it usually ends up with mincashing or going out early in a flip in the big tournaments.

But I've realized being a good tournament player is something that has started to appeal to me more and more the last couple of months. Sure, I can beat 5nl at a decent winrate, but I can imagine the feeling of playing for hours and hours and win a big tournament.

So where do I go from here? Any books/videos in particular to watch? I am familiar with the M-factor and similar strategies, but not really in depth. So any tips are welcome!

3 books/series to read....

Harrington on Holdem all 3 if you can.
Kill Everyone
Jonathan Little's Book VOL 1.

Read a lot of hands on 2p2 or here...and think about them deeply or if you want to be lazy buy Tournament Poker one Hand at a time by Apestyles, Pearljammer and the other guy.

I am the opposite of this I have mainly only played tournaments and not many cash games. But I want to get better at cash games. The main difference in my mind is people gamble a lot more in the tournaments because the pressure is on with rising blinds. However in cash games people tend to be able to wait more for better hands\spots so when i play cash games like they are tournaments I either win a lot really fast or lose it all really fast. In tournments you can not just stay in one mode the whole time you have to change your speed a lot and very drastically (because of table changing and the wider array of playing styles you encounter). Also after being in a cash game for hours it gets easier you get a feel for everyone and can establish a flow but in tourneys after a couple of hours the blinds are so high that the pressure is really on to step up your game.

Thanks! I've read Phil Gordon's little green book so far, but that didn't really give me much. (most of it was pretty general guidelines already applied on CG).

Gonna look into those you mentioned.

I might leave Kill Everyone for the last one...it can be a bit technical and somewhat heavy in math...though nothing that rises past basic algebra I can remember.

That Jonathan Little book is a great start if you can only swing one book.

Shoot yourself in the head. Whatever brain remains will be just enough to make you a good tournament player. :)
