tracking software.

1. PT3 has a 60 day trial.
2. HEM has a 15 day trial.
after the 75 days lets hope you won enough to buy HEM. if not investing might be a good idea.

to keep track of you ROI there are websites

1. sharkscope will give you 5 free seaches a day
2. pokerlabs will give you 20 free a day.
not really sure investing in these site are worth it until your really in the higher stakes. these site are legal to use if your not logged into the pokler site. in other words your not supposed to look people up while your playing them.

ICM tools

1. SNGWIZ is tops in learning ICM. it has a free 30 day trial and think you can even get another 15 days on top of that (i'm not sure)
2. SNGEGT this was banned from major sites but it's open source and can still be used while your not playing(i'm pretty sure it's ok i'd check TOS policy of the site to be sure). it's an ICM tool thats free and some what usefull to learn ICM(SNGWIZ>SNGEDT by a long shot)
3. ICM trainer is another free tool that can help you learn ICM although I'm told it's useful to learm nash ranges.

nash equilibrium
1. holdemresoucers.net has a free website where you can plug in stack sizes blinds and see what ranges of hand would be break even if the villian were playing optimal.
2. chiilin411 has an ICM calulator you can play with to see what different stack sizes have an affect on equity etc.
it's usefull to know what equilbrium ranges are even though most player will never use them. you can use the ranges as a guide to which way to adjust your ranges(looser/tigher) based on your read of the villians range. and this will also help you when you do ofc have to use them when you come accross good winning regular player that also will be useing them.

1. pokerstove is a good equity calulator to play around with.
2. ICMexplorer is freeware and will let you know how risk adverse your are as well as ICM equity and lots of other cool stuff.

PT3-legal
HEM-legal
sharkscope-legal while not logged into poker site
pokerlabs-legal while not logged into poker site
SNGWIZ-legal while not logged into poker site
SNGEGT-really not sure pretty sure its legal while not logged in
ICMtrainer-not sure if legal while logged in my guess probably legal
holdemresources-dont think its legal while you play
chillin411-really not sure
pokerstove-legal while you play
ICMexplorer-not sure if it's legal while you play its legal when your not.

most of these tools you will want to use while you not playing anyway. use them to review your games and study ICM spots while your not playing. this will make decisions easier when you are playing. IMO PT3 or HEM really should be used if your serious about the game.

thought of one more "popopop universal hand replayer" it's a free replayer that you can cut and paste your HH's into to rewatch a game you've played. Also totally legal.

One question, I hear people talking about shark scoping their current opponents. Are they doing it on their iphones or what?

Do it before you play the game.

A quick way to do it is to just setup a notepad file, just copy and paste the players you wish to sharkscope and do it after you are logged out of the pokerstars server.

I've done it before on my laptop whilst playing. Pretty sure it's not illegal. I know PS tried to stop people from doing it, probably because they didn't want the bad mouthing of players stats, hence why now on PS you have to opt in. I think the rule is you can look up whoever but you aren't allowed to berate them for stats in game. Of course all this is rubbish because we've all seen it in chat boxes a ton of times. But yeah, if you're on Full Tilt, I wouldn't worry about shark scoping people in game and if you're at PS feel free to do it on your iphone but there aren't a ton of people who have opted in so I don't know how much information you'll manage to garner from it.

Hello David,
Thank you for your email.
The use of any software or website that gives players an unfair advantage is not allowed. This includes the following types of software and websites:
* Those that calculate hand strength and make recommendations on betting actions during play or tournament end-game analyzers. While some poker programs are legitimate teaching tools, they can only be used while logged out of the full tilt poker software.
* Those that contain statistics derived from hands and/or tournaments in which you did not participate. However, programs or sites that track and analyze hands that you played are permitted.
* Instant messaging systems, including Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk, when used to share hole card information.
* "Bots", which are automated poker-playing programs that make decisions and execute actions.
Players who use prohibited software or websites on Full Tilt Poker may have their accounts permanently closed and their outstanding balance forfeited to compensate victims.
For more information on our policies about third-party software or website use on Full Tilt Poker, please visit: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/prohibited_programs.php
Good luck at the tables, and if there's anything else we can assist you with, please contact us.
Regards,
Brian P

Thanks for the long and very detailed list cardplayer.

I'm going to download HEM, pokerstove, ICM explorer and popopop universal hand replayer right now.

Does anyone know if the HEM trial has Omaha, too ?

FULLTILT
Not Permitted During Play
  • SharkScope
  • Top Shark
  • Smart Buddy
  • Poker Table Ratings
POKERSTARS
tools and services which are prohibited only while PokerStars is running are:

SharkScope (including SharkScope HUD)

So, im pretty sure too that they ARE illegal when playing.:p

Like Wizz mention, better if do it before or after open the poker sites.

so far I have been doing pretty good on the 5$ games, some of the mistakes I have made, make me want to punch a cat though. I plan on getting the tools after a good amount of hands.
