I was wondering what everyone's best tournament advice and what cash game advice they had received was.

I think the best tournament advice was:
You can't win it first hour, but you can lose it. and
Once you have entered the tourney, consider it lost money, and try to play to outlast people instead of win the whole thing.

I remember when I first started playing poker. I was asking for advice on the game, during the game. A lady was pointing out that my first mistake was to sit down an play.... Suppose they were being honest as they usually took my chips and cash... LOL....

Honestly I think the best advice for tournaments is don't worry about how anyone is doing except for you. I know for myself in my first few tournaments I would get so worried when i saw people already had 10 times as many chips as me or when the average chip count was way above my current count and i would start playing way to many hands to catch up. Just play your game one hand at a time and don't worry bout moving from the middle of the pact to first place on every hand.

Do not miss the opportunity to increase the pot, if you have a strong hand!

Be patient, and play only your hands with high% gains, and let others fight with each other! Automatically they will be eliminated and you will get closer to the prize!

The best advice I have found for my poker game is to really work on finding what peoples ranges can be. If you do not know how to decide what someone might have you will NOT have an easy time getting chips.

I agree!

Even if you have a strong hand but Flop is not helping you and you are not sure what to do its better to go fold and stay in the tour than risking :)

Check your cards before going all in.

So many times I have seen people in tournaments go all in only to regret that they did not have the cards they thought they had. Somehow when late in a tournament you can almost project the last hands cards to this flop, and go all in without checking. So Always check your cards before the push.

Always think of what can beat your hand.

Then try to figure out if the other guy has it.

I would strongly disagree that you should just try to outlast people instead of win. If you constantly try to play that way you will never hit the big win that might make it worth playing all those tournaments. Sure you should definitely play solid poker and take your time trying to build a stack, but I know when I just try to outlast people just to get into the cash I don't make a good profit in the long run.

"Not all players play the same game as you."
"Don't forget to C-bet."
"Don't limp or min-raise with premium hands."
"Practice proper bankroll management"
Just a few words of advice that stick with me.
