So a lot of people are bashing this new format and saying how it's not profitable due to high rake, too many recreational players ect.

I tried 5 free $1 BTC games, I made $30.

I then used $40 of my own bankroll, and ran it up to $250.

I have been making a profit on 4/5, or 80% of the BTC games I play in. I estimate about 25 games with 20 cashes. And some of the cashes have been for 6 or 7 times my buyin, in the space of 5 minutes. No other format can offer such high returns so quickly.

My strategy is simple, have a tighter range than average and waste time when you have a guaranteed profit. Most players will shove with about 40% or more of their hands. Basically any face card, anything suited, they will shove with semi-garbage in the early stages. I elect to wait for a top 20% hand such as Q 10 suited, 8-8, J-10, A-5 before I shove or call a shove. Obviously sometimes you will run into a better hand, but a huge majority of the time people will call you with far worse and you will be ahead. Once you double and triple up, you can spend maximum time on each hand whittling down the clock, while obviously still waiting for one of those top 20% hands.

I feel as though the idea of a new game, along with bonuses, is attracting many amateur players to this format, and when they see so many all-ins, they are encouraged to do the same, and you end up with a hell of a lot of equity on the hands you elect to play in.

Overall, i've never had as much success or ROI on any other format, nothing quite as quick and fruitful as Beat The Clock. How much success have you guys had with it? What are your thoughts?

Given the 10% rake in the Beat The Clock games, these are going to be extremely -EV long term.

I've read some posts on another forum about the format, and order to break even in these games long term, your stack at the end of the 5 minute period needs to be 5,556 chips or greater on average.

You might see 15-20 hands and the starting stack is 12bb in these games, not exactly a game where >10% ROIs are sustainable. Also these Beat The Clock games will not make you better at poker, so you're better off focusing on different formats where there is more money to be made.

25 games is an extremely small sample size, it would take thousands of games to conclude anything given the format. You can be playing 100% perfectly in these games, and you will not be profiting 80% of the time, or even 50% of the time.

In my opinion no,in start you must have good card to take all in,so later you can play agresive game.
Or you can try agresive and hope they don't catch you in bluff.

It sounds like something you can use as a diversion from time to time but not a game you want to make a part of your serious playing time. if you are winning great but keep track of things and if it starts to go bad on you just walk away and don't look back.

1$players:15th(0$-0.9$),10th(1.5$-2,75$),5th(3$-4.85$),2nd(3$-9$),1st(5.5$-9,5/12$)

You must have had a big win (first place and big money on it ) , on average you had , let's say a 3rd or 4th position , you must be very good at it !!!!

I have not played it , only the 0.11 test bomb tournament (same kinda) and the play money game , no luck at all , for me spin n' go and BTC , sorry , but are the same rake producing gamble bhigh variance games . You , if you have it , go for it :) Good luck man :)

at least the 1 dollar beat the clock might be profitable because there are lot of loose players who push all in with mediocre hands. i have only play a few of them but im sure this sng can be profitable on the long run with a good strategy.

Everyone knows that these beat the clock SnGs have a lot of rake. Everyone knows that they are a super hyper-turbo format that is faster even than spin and gos. Everyone knows that they have far less skill than many other tournies. Everyone should know that everyone will only have a very small ROI% if they are beatable. You should come to realize that 25 games is not enough to say anything about your game, and it is easy for someone to win any amount of those games. If you are a winner then it won't be by much. Also I would add that you should learn nash ranges for your push fold- there is no ICM in these games and so these simple tables will help your hyper-turbo game immensely.

The question of if they are beatable at all is more of an interesting question. I definitely think that it is worth playing three per day for the sake of the challenge, but I would say that it there is no way to actually be profitable in them. I hope that someone makes an account of a few 1000 of these to see if they can do it- I've played a LOT of spin and gos in the past and I feel that they are pretty profitable (if swingy) but I'm not so sure about these. I just think that the complete lack of postflop play just means that there can't be enough skill to overcome the rake. I would like to see someone give it a good go though ;)

I wouldn't recommend them, and I do think it's a shame that a lot of the games are tending towards a game of pure luck.

10% Hypers EEK GL

Pokerstars just want Bingo games
Encourage recreational players who can win short term as less skill
Difficult to profit so less REGS

For the player -EV
For Pokerstars +EV $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The same thing happened to me when I started playing spin and goes. I cashed in 7 0f my 1st 8 games, then reality kicked back in. I think the same will happen for most players on beat the clock. They will get hooked by the quick good run, then averages will kick in and they start to lose. I believe that they are designed to attract the player who wants to play in 10 minutes and quit. Very profitable market for Pokerstars.

they are nop..time tournaments are very profitable cuz most ppl just shove with sh1ty cards just to make as much as posible chips...and yeah, there are a lot of fishes,i got on 1,10 45 minutes around 50$,on 4,40 100...was my best performance, but the beat the clock are simply BINGO,if u loose 1 hand its over:) so i personaly prefere time tournaments insted of beat the clock

so much luck. To be profitable in the long run will need a lower rake.

yes it is some kind of bingo game, but if you play tight on the start and agrressive with strong hands you are allways ahead because so many players play all in with garbage hands, so in a long run you can make some profit but rake will eat most of it :joyman:

I think the game format isn't profitable in the long run. Firstly you need to be lucky to get good hands during those five minutes and then you need to be lucky when shoving. It definitely looks like a game with a lot of variance and it's made for amateur recreational players. But! That's maybe something we should consider. As you mentioned, a lot of very loose amateurs are playing these, and considering that it actually could be profitable. I'm still very skeptical to this format, but it would be fun to see if you actually could be profitable playing these games.
