Two very quick questions:

1. Is bb/100 useful to measure success in SNGs or MTTs? Is anyone using it? Seems to me to be redundant as blinds are always increasing and represent chips rather than a money winrate. Would it be correct to say that ROI% is the only useful metric for tournaments? I only ask because my tracking software is showing me my bb/100 in tournament mode.

2. What is a good winrate for players in SNGs?

Thank you

Yes. Use ROI% to determine how you are doing in tournaments. bb/100 is irrelevant as that measures profit per hand, not per tournament.

Thanks. I'm sure you meant "Profit per hundred hands" but I understood. Could bb/100 not still be relevant though in SNGs/MTTs? We win by gathering as many chips as we can during the tournament. Doesn't that mean that bb/100 can be used to measure how often we win 'Chips'? I'm still uncertain how bb/100 could be a helpful tournament stat, as the Big Blind size changes every 5-8 minutes. Maybe some others on the forum could clarify this? Can we use bb/100 in tournament Poker? Thank you for your reply. R

You can definitely use it to see how you're doing in certain situations, especially in mtts before ICM becomes a big factor. If you find a spot where you're losing chips consistently, try to figure out why and make some adjustments. However, in SNGs particularly, we're not playing hands with the goal of winning the most chips, but rather winning the most $EV. The distinction is that chips will have a different dollar value depending on the exact situation you're facing. There are plenty of times where a +chipEV play is -$EV.

that is a very irrelevant statistic for the tournaments since the blinds are always increasing and it is very difficult to calculate that in the tournaments you should focus on other types of statistics for the tournaments, and calculate your income to ITM or final table
