Hello Cardschatters,

I recently found this table below about bank roll management for playing Sit&Gos and Tournaments, because I am very interested in this topic.

Now I wonder how you think about this topic and the suggestions of the table.
Do you use brm at all? Do you think the datas of the table are reasonable?
And how aggessive is your bankroll management? And especially, do you have any recommendations about aggressiveness connected to the amount of your bankroll? Would you vary this dependant to the amount?

I look forward to your answers.

It looks like a very reasonable table to me. There is a lot of great info out there on bankroll management. I feel that it is the number one most important poker skill out there.

Thank you for your reply wagnert. Do you stick to this? And to which level?
Aggressive or less?
And well, I also think it is a very important topic, Then what would you do if you would win a milllion dollar? Loose it again or preserve it? And then how? :)

That's actually a really solid table, I use that myself. Personally, I go for a Middle strategy for MTTs, as I only play the lowest of stakes right now not even $1 buy in yet. As I move up stakes I'm planning on making my BR management much more conservative as I will be playing against better players, but for now the Middle strategy is working for me :)

Good table. Quite reasonable. Only to adhere to it you need discipline, which is not at all.

Aggressive bankroll management requires a lot more self-discipline, concentration, attention and firmness of intentions from the player ...
Accurate bankroll management is the best skill for a successful poker player, regardless of the level of your game.

I'm in the US so I don't play a ton anymore. I play mostly $5 double or nothing sit and goes. I have always keep slightly over $100 on ignition so it is on the aggressive side but I'm comfortable with this since I am not dependent on poker for income. I think you could easily sub the words aggressive and conservative for casual and professional with the idea being if you a playing professionally you need a more conservative bankroll management strategy because if you loose your bankroll it has more consequences than a casual player loosing 50 or 100 bucks of disposable income.

As far as your question on if I hit a million bucks playing poker what my next move would be. I personally would take the money and run because for me that would be life changing money. I could pay off my student loans, mortgage and my wife's car loan and have tons left over. With that being said, if you were a professional, you could still cash out most of the money and play about any mtt tournament you want to and still follow proper bankroll management. There is a bankroll management chart on another poker forum site that I consider the gold standard. It is from 2008 an authored by poker writer that goes by jennifear. It can easily be located by a simple google search. In this chart, which is pretty conservative, the highest bankroll listed is $106,000. If you have $106,000 in your bankroll, you are able to play $530 mtt tournaments. There is not many tournaments even on the best sites that run over this amount.

CroSany, the aggressive and conservative on this chart doesn't refer to style of play but rather how aggressive or conservative your actual bankroll management style is.

I adhere to a conservative bankroll of 100 buyins for cash games.
Although he himself started with 15:)

I think you need much more buy ins in sit and gos and in tournaments.
You should not classify in very aggressive and very conservative.
Generally you have to be conservative as possible, the reason is the variance.
Bankrollmanagement is the important thing in this game.
You can cover your Bankroll only with very high buy ins and the risk to be tilt will be minimized. But if you loose 10% of your bankroll you can be very easily tilt.
Pls correct your post in SNG to 250, DON to 125, Hu to 150 (how can you accept 75 buyins please!), 18 ppls sng to 300-400, 45 ppl sng to 400-500 and MTT to 700!

I think, that any kind of management, even in poker is really great thing! Your table, to my mind, is good and reasonable! It will help you to build your own poker style and game strategy!!!!! Good luck!)

I use antitilt BRM in HU SnGs. Cash out every some days and leave about 10 BI for play. So, i can t tilt going higher limits, when i got bad streak... And i have added BR on my skrill.

Bankroll management is a very important part of a successful game. In my case, the permissible risk is 1-2% of the deposit per day. But, I play only MTT tournaments.

Thanks to all for your answers.
After 2 years of playing and sticking to this rule, I just can say, it is the right thing to do in poker. I was starting with cent games at this time, but now I am able to play low and middle MTTs by this. Also SNGs. Well, I am not a cash player still. I have to admit. I still play SNGs and tourneys.
But this bankroll management helped me already a lot. It is my additional vacation money.

Well, maybe I should play higher games meanwhile, but sometimes the raises of bankroll were to quick and
I just stay with that, what I like to do and I feel able to do.
