Okay, so after a successful christmas spell. I have just made a decent withdrawal leaving me with $146 left in my account. As I wanted to start 2013 by the book, I was wondering what Tourney's I should be playing? i.e $2, $3, $5 or $10.
I just want to make sure I am praticing proper BRM :)

the rule I follow is never use more than 1% of your BR for tourneys, never use more than 2% of your BR for sng's.

This means you're rolled for $1.00 comps and $2.00 sng's.

Given that I'm a BR - nit and you're being not totally unexperienced I'd go with 50-100 bi for MTTs - that would be 1-2$ MTTs.

Personally I play with 100bi usually (mostly 90man sngs on PS) but take shots at money added CC games (5.50$).

Thanks guys however is that not a bit extreme. Only reason I say, is that usually the prize pool with the $1/2 tourneys are quite low.. unless you play the monster fields like the daily dollar on FT etc. Would it not be better to play the $5 and then if I win it will increase my BR more and I can't imagine the competition being that much tougher??
I do want to build a strong BR but I dont want it too take years :(

The prize pool relative to the buy-in and field size is always the same - only opposition gets tougher.

I think you need to take a different approach.

Think in terms of ROI and buy-ins won.

BRM is not a tool to guarantee you millions with a 0.10$ buy-in.

BRM if sticked to should prevent you from going busto in a short period of time when you run bad or unlucky.

Trust me those days/weeks/months will come.

After all it's your money - you can do what you want... play 5.50 MTTs

with 26 BIs if you want to strain BRM but don't say you haven't been warned.

I'm currently building up my BR on PS aswell and started with 34$.

The graphs I post are from 1st of november until now.

Note that I only played 43 real-money games there (+ playmoney league and fun games) so my sample size is really small.

I do like the graph and the ROI though.

+1

Being outside of the USA depositing for you should be no problem, and something can be said for not having much tied up online. So if you are working, and the money is not the issue, and you felt comfortable at a particular buy-in, then go for it.

Here in the US, we suffer from deposit angst......

Tbf, the fields at FTP are so small in the non GTD games that i think $1-3 tournies is fine with that bankroll imo and I would add in the 5s when you hit 250. Try to stay away from playing too many big field games and if you're looking to push your table count up, just add in the 2.20 on demand "S&Gs" which usually get decent fields, probably as good or better than the normal 2.20 MTTs or the $3.30 90 man KOs, but them being turbo are gonna be higher variance so I would probably stick to the on demand games for now. GL!

if you really think you should directly start with 5$ tourneys, your BRM is already unneccessary, if you do it like this your bankroll will be at 0$ quiet fast, you will always have some bad beats and downswings...
