Playing day 1 of the anzpt main event tommorow and would apreciate any good advice
blind structure is 60min blind levels starting stack 20k
ill be playing day 1b after reading the pokerstars blog on this event day 1a went like this
89 starters 42 left blinds at the end of the day are 400/800 100 ante
chip leader has 91k
on day 1b the expected number will be 150+
after reading some of the commenary on day one there was alot of agression people stacking of with tp type hands and jaming on draws.
Its hard to say what day 1b will bring but I suspect the agression will be high as this day has alot of internet qualifiers .
Although I plan to play to what ever the conditions will bring, I m thinking however to play cautiously and patiently ,try to find spots where I can double up my starting stack whitch should bring me close to average stack at the end of the day.
Ill keep you updated on how the day went , cheers in advance

It's a great experience, i played the adelaide one around a year ago. Best advice i can give you is prepare well. Make sure you eat/drink right, because if it's anything like the adelaide one, you might be playing for 8-10 hours a day over 1-3 days.

Next tip is bring a pair of sunglasses. Not for concealing tells or anything like that. The one i played had really bright lights that pretty much gave me a headache for nearly all of day 2. So just in case the casino has really bright lights over every table, that's a tip i would have loved to be told.

Don't be intimidated by anyone. I found the level of play to be actually reaaaally bad, there was only a few decent players and usually they are easily spotable.

Be overly nice at the table too, you might be suprised what you can get away with if you are percieved as a nice guy.

Other than that it's just another tournament, just don't do what i did and bust out close to the bubble :D. GL

anyway this is how it went , got a preety shitty start when lost some chips with AQ against AK on a A 7 2 flop , then lost a couple more hands so from the 2 level on I was grinding a short stack all day long untill this hand comes up on the last level of the day. I get pocket JJ and raise from co , bb calls
flop j 10 3 bb leads, I raise, bb jams, I call , bb shows 10 10
turn 6 , river 10  thought i was going to vomit on the dealers head
after being card dead for 8 hours , i jump on the cash table and get the best run
ever had in my life , it was crazy AA 3 times in a row shittloads of pairs and hitting flops like crazy , tipical hey , anyway pulled 2k and after 15 hours call it a day

How did you find the level of play?
I actually had a tough table with a couple of good local players and a pro from eastern states , but overall the play was quite standard , a mixture of good and average players
