Just for those that don't know, I won a Cardschat Satellite into this event which is the reason why I am asking this. Has anyone played in one of these events (or similar events) on Full Tilt that can give me tips or advice on how I should play and the level of play I should expect? Or just in general the level of play at Full Tilt?

What is the event buyin? You can have a 250k gtd with a micro buyin(micromillions) and there will be fish everywhere. Or a high buyin price with fewer runners which will have much tougher fields.

In your case, its obviously not a micro buyin since you satellited in but still it depends on the buyin and how many runners it has. The higher the buyin, the tougher the field. The higher the number of runners, the softer the field(generally speaking, and in terms of ROI, you can expect higher in the long run).

Just remember fish is still fish even at high buyins, you exploit them the same way you do at lower stakes.

Oh yeah, it's a $215 buyin with about 1,200 runners. Occasionally has a small overlay. It's on Sunday at 1:30pm ET and has obviously a $250,000 guarantee to the prize pool. It has about 3 hours of late registration and twelve minute blind levels. After 15 levels, the blind levels extend to 15 minutes long. Then after fifteen more levels, blind levels are at 20 minutes until it finishes. You can buy in for four times. When late registration closes, I would have 10BB if I bought in for a starting stack.

12 minute blinds shouldn't be too different from a normal speed MTT I guess. My advice is just play your game and don't be intimidated just because its a high buyin mtt. There are still fish although I guess there won't be too many in a 1200 runners mtt. The rebuy structure does put you at a disadvantage to you though since I assume you won't be punting 200s into this if you bust.

You should take my advice with a grain of salt as I have not played any such MTTs, only seen some hand history reviews of others binking it.

Good luck on Sunday. Maybe open up a rail thread on CC :D

I am kind of more used to an eight minute structure myself or playing around an average of 30BB because it's the most optimal for my play in my opinion (stealing, re-stealing etc). I will post a rail thread for fun and if I bink it you can expect to know. Starts at 5:30am where I live so I am deliberating with myself on when to start playing.

I can't do that. It's either this, or the FTOP's (which I can't participate in because of school). Wish me some more run good!

Well if you are not confident in deeper play and you have the option to register late, there is no shame in doing so. Its +EV to take away others' positive EV against you.

i played a similar tournament a little while back on PS. Qualified from a $3 satellite and went through 4 rounds to pick up a $200+ ticket. I remember first place was $80k and i think it was $250k guaranteed.

I just played my normal game early doors but, because a min cash was a big deal for my bankroll, i tightened up (shut down) towards the bubble. After the bubble, I remember the payouts were increasing by $10 every 9 players so i just played supertight and hung in for as long as i could. Not sure if that approach is optimal but it let me pick up over $500 which i was happy with.

Best of luck and i hope this tournament is when you run good!!!

If you won a CC private game with an added ticket, then you have the skills that can win the whole shebang.......Point there is to not doubt yourself.

It would not be a horrible thing if you showed up somewhat late for the game, as the first few orbits will be as whacky as a freeroll. Don't do stupid stuff.

Be patient. Opportunities will present themselves. Be observant, if you have a tracker, use it. You will probably not have numbers on most of those players, so set your tracker/HUD to display session stats, or even level stats.

Instead of making silly moves early, take notes on the silly moves others are making. Then remember to read those notes in situations against those players BEFORE you make a decision.

Don't worry about your stack size. Don't compare your stack size to others at your table. You will do that naturally later in the game. Don't fixate on it.

BE PREPARED FOR A VERY LONG GAME!... If you want to cash in this game you will need to spend at least 4 hours to get to the money (not sure how the structure is layed out). To win it could take 12 + hours.

I played this game last year after winning a ticket from CC. Early on, unless you get very unlucky with your table draw, you won't be out of your depth since quite a bit of the field will have gotten in via satellites, meaning they normally play MTTs up to $10 or $20.

That said, watch if anyone at your table isn't playing like you're used to seeing. If so, don't automatically assume they're bad. Your job is to figure out if they're fish or regs.

As the field shrinks, the average ability level will rise such that if you last a few hours, you will probably find that the number of players at your tables who don't play quite the way you're used to seeing gradually increases.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll remember to put that in my memory bank and not spew my chips instead of 5-bet bluffing and triple barrel bluffing.

Fulltilt, Stars, partypoker, Titan... when you're talking about higher buyin Sunday Majors it doesn't really matter which site you're talking about because the regs. in these will be playing in all of them.
They also attract alot of recreational weekend players (but this is why all of the regs. will be in there too). I'd guesstimate that as the tourney progresses, 3/4 of the players on your table will be MSMTT / HSMTT regs.

How do you play it? Honestly this seems like an odd question:confused:

Fair point there. Makes me so sad to know I'll be playing against regs. Of course I know how to play an MTT, but in other words what should I think about when I am playing because I know people on Cardschat have satellited in.

Reason I said 'question seems odd' is because it is a typical deepstacked MTT although it is a high buyin Sunday Major online.
knowing who the good players are & aren't would obviously be helpful. (might want to check them out on a result tracking site).
One could literally write a book here to answer a question like this. Oh... they already have ;)

Reading is too boring for me. I'd rather go sleep. But I'll find my ways instead.
