I was just wondering if anyone plays in their local WPT League?

I have now for about 6 months now and I really like it. I find that there is a mix of fish and advanced players. As a whole though I find better play at the WPT League games than I do at the money games.

if you have the World Poker Tour, that not everyone is on the bankroll, and what you have achieved during these 6 months?

I play live in the WPT League.

So far the lessons I have learned is how to deal with bullies at the table from more than one position. I have learned how to identify, isolate and how to pick on passive players. I have learned how to deal with agrofish. the most important is how to be consistent. In order to stay in the top of points so that you get invites to the big games, you have to stay consistent. Right now I am in first place by 8% over second place. I have also already earned an invite to the 2017 Championship game in Vegas.

Over all I like the WPT play. It is good to sit down with people who take the game serious. Everyone is at different levels, but all are serious about the game. You do not see people who are playing for a lark as a general rule. This has really improved my game. I have not met anyone there who is willing to teach you per say but you do get good play where you can take lessons that you take from Here at Cardschat or from other online study spots and apply them.

There is no buy in for the local league, but the championship game there is a $150 buy in for that game.

playing in the League, such as poker stars where I have 1.5 years I realized one thing to earn in the end of the month a good place,it is necessary to take at least from 100 to 300 seats. you don't pay anything. and in tournaments for money a lot of people who do not normally play, because unreasonable risks.

I play in the WPT league. In fact, I'm playing one of the online games as I type. I don't know where you play locally, but we quit going to the local games because the play was so Terrible. My fiance and I were always in the top 4, but we decided we would rather play good poker other places.

I played in our local WPT amateur league for a while. The best thing that ever happened was a particular player showed up one day and everyone spazzed out over him playing because he was a pro. Spazzed out as in they didn't want him there and resented his presence. I thought that to be very shortsighted. I chatted him up at the break and voila, he became my coach and I soon found other places to play, like the casinos.

Other than that the best thing was constantly running good versus the state champ. If he had KK, I had AA. Poor guy was beside himself and hated me. It was not a friendly group that was open to outsiders.

I also play at casinos, but because I am still learning, I love to practice playing league.

I play at my local eagles, but the play is so bad that I can not practice new moves. At the Eagles, I just NIT up and wait till the 3-5 players depending on who they are before I can start really playing. I took 3rd Friday at the Eagles btw.

So anyhow, our local WPT league has your typical newbies but we also have a handful of good players. This is a good mix, because the casinos have the same mix. You have to learn how to deal with the fish and crazies. The other thing I like is the fact that I have met a couple of serious players and we are starting to go to cash games together and looking at setting up a team for some of the big games in the area.

This got me started playing Poker competitively! Before I was introduced to the league in Texas I played online almost all the time and then I found out that I can win a spot in Vegas with this league so I went ahead and got qualified. I fell in love with the format especially getting points and trying to get on the ladder board.. Right now there isn't a WPT league near me so I mainly play it online now.

But awesome experience, mix of good and bad people.

I'm sure each local does it a little bit different as they are kind of like a franchise (or mayabe exactly like a franchise). The one I was with would have a mix of cash (small) and prizes (big screen TV, xbox, etc) - this was usually reserved for quarterly or annual qualified tourneys.

To find out if there is a local league near you - www.wptleague.com
