after about an hour and a half and just wish the tourney would end? I just played a tourney on bovada that paid last eight and finished 9th because I got sloppy because I was tired of playing. it was 2hrs in and when I got to the final table I started with the 2nd most chips. Then I just started playing stupid because I wish it was over. So does anyone else go through this and if so what do you do to not just throw away all your chips?

I often dump on the bubble because of boredom, But I rarely play for over $1 and I mostly play for fun. So when everyone is folding to the BB, I start over betting just to get something going.

"Boredom" seems to be the key word here. If you are bored with poker, you definitely need a vacation from it.

boredom. That´s the reason i played 2 or 3 tables in parallel so i don´t get asleep, actually sometimes i´ve been playing 5 or 6 at the same time, because frequently get hard to stay up hand after hand waiting for action and hothing happens, and what is worse is when some players last to fold 5 or 6 secs or more, and do it once and again, maybe nobody has told them that there are a fold check to fold automatically, so they delay the game and looks like an eternity for them to play, so that´s why i need some other tables, otherwise i start surfing the web or watching tv, and lose moments of the tables, which i repeat to see how they played

Try playing a few games at once. You will have a hand almost always and that should help with the boredom. Try drinking a big cup of coffee or red bull as well.

if you can't focus for more than an hour or two perhaps tournaments aren't for you ,try some cash tables that way you can limit your sessions when you reach your boredom point.......scorp

Yeah, if an hour or two is your limit, don't play any big field MTTs any time soon and hope to go deep. You can expect a typical online MTT with 1500-2000 runners to last 8+ hours.

For me the cure for boredom is multi-tabling. If I single table anything I want to blow my brains out. I need a minimum of 4 and preferably 6-8 tables going to be enjoying myself, at least until I get very deep and short stacked in a big one where I need to concentrate more.

Playing live, I'm not even aware of time passing. I've sat for 16 hours in a poker room before just getting up a couple times for bathroom breaks, not even eating. And had to force myself to leave, LOL.

Sometimes you just have to make time and pay attention.

If you get bored that easy, tournament poker may not be for you. I can play 1-1/2 hours in my sleep. SNG's and cash games are your best bet.

Some posters have said stimuli other than the poker can help. If you are fairly new to poker I don't recommend this. You need to be focusing on the game and player actions. Players with years of experience can do so easily, but a learning player can retard his progress by doing this.

I think my problem is how long it takes players to make a decision. I watch tv while I play, it is my second monitor or my cable tv. I just get tired of someone waiting until their time is up to fold or call (never raise)when they knew they were going to fold or call any way.

Very often it happens to start playing with great interest and follow all the players at the table.
Only play good hands and focus in the game, but after 2 hours of play you start to get tired. But the thought is if every time you give up then finally you just wasting your time with poker.
Patience !!!

I'm not bored nothing to play tournaments. I can spend hours and hours. Tried to see their stats on the internet to pass the time, I also look much the lobby to see how changing the positions and looked at some other table.
In contrast, I get bored easily playing cash.

Just get up and go for a walk around the house. Or if your at a casino go walk around for a bit. After stretching your legs you get more blood flow circulating throughout your system and thus you will feel like you are more awake.

I like playing in tournament poker but I do get impatient and bored sometimes. I know a lot of people say sitting out is not a strategy or isn't even advisable (because what if you have AA?!), but I do it because I know when I get tired from waiting to ITM I end up making stupid calls or playing too loose.

I switch over to surfing buzzfeed or kotaku.

I never get bored easily, but sometimes i feel tired and feel i should have a break, for example even when i play roullette online i feel tired and if i contuinue playing i am always loosing, lets say today i was 100$ and more ahead on black chip poker roullette, then i feel tired but i continued to play and when you start loosing its late to stand up, so i lost nearly 70$ profit which for my bankroll is much.... i am not happy with myself once more time! :(
