Been playing $3 turbos on Bovada lately. I've been focusing on SNGs a lot the recently, I play 10-20 sngs on the weekdays and a bit more or less on the weekend. My volume is pretty maxed with working/working out/social life, and I've been seeing a pretty "meh" ROI of 3% (based off of ~250 SNGs so take thats you will). It was higher, but I'm currently in a huge downswing. My roi for the last two days is about -43% over 20 games.

Are any of you destroying microstake SNGs? Besides putting in the time to play, what resources did you use to learn? I've read the Moshman book, the Harrington series, Theory of Poker, and am currently reading Professional No Limit Hold 'em.

Do you feel confident that over the long term you will profit over your SNG play? What was one of your biggest realizations in micro SNGs?

Of course, thank you for your answers and I hope this thread helps any lurkers currently experiencing a negative/low ROI.

I play Bovada also and mostly do sngs as well. I started out at the same stakes you're at now. Everyone goes through streaks where they have downswings, so that in and of itself isn't a big deal. Just keep working at plugging any holes you may find, but you have to be critical of your own play which can sometimes prove difficult.

I did well at those stakes with an ROI of 22%, though I didn't stay at those stakes long as I was able to move to $5 pretty quickly. I certainly could have been on a heater, but I believe these are very beatable. My ROI at the $5 level was significantly lower. In fact I ran better at $10 than at $5 for whatever reason.

I originally read Super System years ago. I also enjoyed Caro's book, but that's for live games. Lately I try to just read hand histories and get a feel for different scenarios.

My biggest realization is that I can actually beat the game on a regular basis. When I have downswings, they seem to be shorter lived than they used to be which certainly instills confidence.

Keep at it. Remember any profit is good as most are losing players. You're certainly on the right track! Good luck!
