$250 live tournament, blinds are at 150-300-25 Ante, 9 handed, action comes folded to me in the small blind, i have J-8 off suit, My stack is ~24k, BB stack is ~20k.

I raise to 750, BB calls.

Flop is 7d, 9s, 10s
I check (knowing BB will bet pretty much ATC here)
BB bets 900
I call
Turn comes 10h
I bet 2000
BB raises to 6000
I Shove.
River 5d

BB shows Pocket 7s

Could i have possibly EVER gotten away from this?
its eating away at me, because i was in such a good spot with my stack at the time, dominating my table...

You could, if you can put him on 107, 97, 109, which if suited could easily be a calling range pre. His reraise to 6000 would scare me. What does he have that you are beating, and with which he is calling pre, betting the flop, and then raising the turn. Your turn bet of 2000 appears super strong, hence the question what does he have that means he raises to 6000?
I think the only range he has then is 97/109/107/77/1010/99 or 68. So you are only beating one of those.

Very difficult to get away from, but do you need to call once you think it through?

Did you think it through when he raised to 6000? My problem is sometimes acting to quickly and not thinking things through. It has to be the hardest thing to do in live to take the time to think through every single hand.

Paired boards create all sorts of headaches like this, I dont think you would of got him with a big post flop bet since he was already tripped up but those free cards are killers (even though not in this case)

$75bi 1st hand EQUAL CHIPSTACKS 1st hand of MTT

IM BB JTo and only the UTG player entered hand

FLOP KQ7 not wanting to get to involved I check and HE CHECKS

TURN K I Check and he checks me again (wish I wold of folded here)

River ACE HELLS YEAH straight, gonna make a fee chips throw in a $500 chip into a $75 pot just gonna make him give it up and DUDE PUSHED ALL IN, WELL MR COOL DAN ABS, who says what gonna beat me on this little board LOL I call the shove

and only DAN ABS didnt realize that completing his straight on the river was gonna be my death call. Everyone at the table seem to know I WAS CRUSHED

Well Im sure everyone knows what he had, I had to stand up the guy shakes my hand, FIRST OUT. A few people were in shoock that he just checked it all the way until I made a move, but with that turn, what did he have to worry about KQ btw

So that little experience had me reallyworried of paired boards so in a hand just like the one you posted

I flop a straight but I bet hard into it post flop get called, Turn I bet hard into it and get called, RIVER PAIRS Queen on board and NOW I KNOW IM FD, I try to block bet for 1K and the dude raised me for an extra1K I knew I JUST KNEW IT, so I paid him off

J9 vs Q8 TQ8 (I bet hard here) got called
TURN 5 (I bet hard here) got called)
River Q (JEZE surely he doesnt have QT or Q8 ) Tired to make a block bet that got re-raised) Q8 to which to the dude tells the table, I HAD OUTS
