Play what you enjoy. Sure, winning money is part of the enjoyment, but if frequent small cashes are more enjoyable for you than less frequent larger ones, then what's the problem?

i feel like sitngos are starting to die out online. theyre not as hot as they use to be for american sites, most of the sngs that are being played are usually low limits and double up your buy in. i enjoy playing 6max more than i do 9handed nowadays because of aggressiveness edge to the game. Go for cashgames.

Assuming your playing for fun do what you enjoy most.
There isn't enough quality sit n go's consistantly filling on 888 for it to sustain a player an income.
By quality I mean high enough buy in non turbo SnG's

The only bonus is their are so many weak players. To be honest I think any true full time grinder realises this and moves on to pokerstars or one of the bigger sites for sit n go's and tournaments.

Im not doubting you can make some big bucks on 888 over time, but it's more important to be selective with your sit n go's tournaments,
and cash if you can play cash.

Satellites are an excellent way to go you wanna be playing in those big weekly tournaments making some serious moves for your shot at a big score or a live ticket,

Do you know how big of a part variance plays in poker? It's normal to have up and down results aswell as long prolonged negative and positive results at the same time.

If you enjoy them and are a winning player, then I don't see a reason to stop playing. If you're expecting to win or cash in nearly all of your games you have the wrong mindset.

in general the strucure of the 6max games you play should be less "up and down". but it really depends on skill level and game style. The more mistakes you make, the more U&D you will be. Also if you play a shove/fold game style or have very wide shove/call ranges you will have more swingy results. if you play a more risk averse style, and look for more profitable lines that don't risk as much, the swings should be a lot less. But if you take that too far and your blinding out of tournaments, your results will again, be swingy. Find a balance in your game, that only comes with literally thousands of games and countless hours of experience/time spent studying poker.

Hi man !

I thought that in Sit & Go 6-max are only 2 places $$ not three>>> If that is true than you should no be having that much of UPs and Downs .

In 9-man Sit & Go You are gonna experience much higher turbulence

>>> So if you are making constantly profit >>> I would recommend playing and staying in game that is profitable for you :)

Good luck @TAbles !

If you don't like up and down results then 120/180 mans have no worth for you. I would stay with 6mans and maybe try to mix them with few 9mans in case you feel your grinds is too stereotypical. These games are full of bad players, I don't think it's a waste of time at all to focus on them.
BTW, there are really 3 places paid on 888 in 6max? It's weird payout structure as on most sites these games are set to payout only top 2.

888s a very profitable sight to play on, but not for sit n gos. For 1 thing I think the rake is higher and with virtually no rake back program/vip system unless you rake a motza and get to their highest levels, which you won't do period.

Secondly I have a feeling that the 3 places paid format on the six Max sitn gos are better for rec players than serious grinders. Like I think the $1 games pay $1.02 for third, great this lowers variance, however it comes at the cost of lower scores for 1st and second. I think in the long run this will reduce the win rate for most regs by less singing the skill edge that comes that shows itself most during bubble play.

Finally, volume. 888 is soft in basically all games, however the sit n GOS don't fill up with enough volume to seriously grind them for income.

Thanks for the replies, I'm a recreational player who takes poker very seriously. I want to be making 100s of £ a month and I have good months and neutral months but I enjoy winning/making money no matter what game it is most of all.
Yes it pays 3 places and I have more 3rd place finishes than 2nd and 3rd which makes me think this is a good game for me plus I love low variance but the traffic isn't high enough after the stakes I'm playing at at the moment. Should I be using my time to get better at 9 mans ??
