Hi All,

I'm new to this site and poker in general having been playing for around 10-11 months. I want to know whether someone can help me establish whether I made the currect play because I feel rotten lol.

Here goes...

I'm playing in a £50+£8 live freeze out tourney.

There are 47 participants and prize pool is £2450, winner gets £875, 5th gets £160.

Blinds and Ante are 1200/2400/200

I've been folding for at least 45 waiting for a decent pair 99+ or AQo+ and the blinds and antes are going up every 20 min.

I had 4BB and I raise all-in from EP with JJ on a full ring table, it's folds to C/O and he calls with 66 (he had around 12-15BB) everyone else folds.

Flop comes:

754 rainbow

Turn:

Q

River:

3

Giving him the nuts 7-3 straight.

I busted at 18.

Is there possibly anything I could have done to make this spot more favourable? Or when this situation presents itself in the future.

In addition, for the 4 hours I was playing, I only had AK, 44, 44, 99, 44, JJ and some off suited connectors.

I'm planning to play in the SuperStack and WPTN in London at the end of July.

Also what's the correct bankroll for starting out as a live poker tourney player playing in tournaments of a similar entry fee.

Any constructive advice/criticism would be much appreciated. Thanks.

20 minutes level for a live game tournaments is pretty fast, you will get a small number of hands and levels will increase pretty fast..
As I see, almost everyone had a small, shallow stack so the strategy there is almost the same as for those turbo/ hyperturbo online tourneys.
Just wait for god spot to push/call and try to figure out your opponents tendencies.
And win every all-in,ofc :D :D

Hi !

In my opinion, what you do is good. Do not change your strategy. The RNG is unpredictable :(
The winning player does not have enough knowledge of the great luck to him.
The river be with you :)
