I'm just wondering what you think.
All the MTT books I have read have have been catered toward a tight/aggressive strategy.
I have cashed in a few tournaments with that strategy but I haven't been able to pull off anything remarkable.
Basically I have two questions.
1. Is it wrong for me to fold AA pre flop on the button with two people all in during the first round of a major 10k event?
2.If I just arrived at a new table and I missed the flop after raising with AQo would taking a second stab on the turn be pure gambling?

I agree, theres a lot to take into account in situations like the one you described on #2. Since your on the button you obv have position but theres a few other things i take into account when in this spot. For example: effective stack sizes to blind levels, # of players to the flop, the table dynamics, player image, board texture, previous hands opp played...These are just a few things to keep in the back of your mind for each hand, that can help influence future play

1. really really bad to fold AA preflop early with two all in, isnt that really the ideal situation when you have AA on the button?
2. wouldnt call it pure gambling, dependent on buy in, stack sizes, position board texture, turn card.

Gotta wonder what books you have read but,
#1 - My guess is not one of the authors of those books would advocate folding here under any circumstance. Will you make an early exit or be crippled doing this? Almost 30% of the time you run into it. But, that's very good poker odds.
#2 - Yes it would, so the question is should you do it? There Hillbilly is right. For example it would depend a great deal on the cards that were flopped. If the flop is 962 rainbow, is anyone really going to believe you hit that after raising preflop and repping two big cards. It's going to come off as a C-Bet and the guy holding 78 is going to want to see another card.

1. Yes it would be horrible, nobody has a big enough edge to fold
2. depends on flop texture.

There is only one time when I am folding AA preflop with two all-ins ahead of me, and that is during a satelite when on the bubble and everyone who is left gets the same prize.

#2 - I'll tell you this - probably the biggest factor for me on whether to take a stab at the pot in this situation is going to be the read I have on my opponent. If he's anything but a tight player, I have to give the option of checking and giving up the hand much more weight. In other words - yes it's a gamble so you pretty much want to do it with a player who doesn't like to gamble and avoid it if the guy just came from the roulette table to play some poker.

There are very few situations where folding AA pre flop is correct and this isnt even close to being one of them.

Even in the satellite bubble situation, it's not always best to fold. It depends on the stack situation and your estimated probability of being able to fold until you win vs. your chances of winning the hand, also factoring in whether winning will knock out someone, and if it won't, how much your chances of winning will improve if you win.
