I generally have two strategies:
1. See them as a threat and don't get involved.
2. See them as an oportunity and set a trap.
The first should be self explanatory. For the second to work you usually need a deepish stack (can afford to lose some chips) and some patience - give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves. Here's an example from a recent STT I played with an aggressive player to my right. For about 6
hands out of ten it folded to me in SB and I called with ATC. I checked or min bet the flop and he bet or raised big. I'd fold, even if I had a bit of the flop eg TPLK. Then I hit two pair (KJ to KJ5r) and minbet. Predictably the villain raises about 2/3 my stack, I shove and they call with AQo. I've got them nailed at 80/20. Then we see a Q turn and Q river, but that's not the point! I don't think I would have got their chips in the middle so easily if I hadn't set them up by showing weakness when I was weak in the previous hands and then doing exactly the same when I was pretty sure I had them beat.
