when I started playing poker a few months back I got the chance to play a tournament of $30 where more experience players might play. After about an hour of the closing of late registration there where only 4 players left. One of those players it was me and I was in 3rd place. I played a reserved game and was only calling with mostly premium cards such as AQ, AK ,AJ and folding most of the other lower hands. At the final table I took about two players out but when we where only 4 players at the table it got pretty interesting because no one wanted to risk anything. But when I received a 10,10 I decided to go all in and the player who was on 2nd with few chips more called with 55, at first I thought I had him but the flop brought him a 5 and took me out leaving me in 4th place. After 3 months later I still ask myself what could Ive done different and I still don't find any answers. Is there someway I could have gotten out of that situation other than folding right away which seems pretty hard.

You'll find on this site that decisions depend on information. We interpret information and make decisions. I would like to know how many big blinds you had, what the blinds level was, your opponents stack size, your positions, your table image, etc. In general I will say this.

Tournament poker is all about making the right decisions and still losing most of the time. It sounds like you put yourself in a great spot and your opponent just got lucky, so no you couldn't do anything differently.

Sometimes we just get unlucky in this game, but you can't sweat it.

There is no remorse or something because going on showdown or on preflop, you were way ahead.

Its just bad luck on our part.

It depends of course on the blind structure. But if you were already a small stack, I think there was no way out there. Like hffjd2000 said: It was just bad luck.

hi!
you should play more aggressivly in te late stage of the tourneys
yous shove was good and he make a mistake to call an all in with a hand like 55, if the stacks are big
its a game you need luck too,you cant win all the tourneys because you play well

Seems like just unlucky, it happens and is a part of the game. Well done on getting yourself in pos to win. There is always another way to play a hand but I wouldn't worry to much about this spot.

Thank you all
the blinds where already at 10k bb and 5k sb I had been a reserved player for most of the game I build up slowly and for the most part I was letting people knock themselves out since I was only playing whenever I had premium hands.

Due to this explanation, I understud, how original and same looks begginer poker-player. My problem on start was missunderstanding of situation at the table. I saw re-raise and want to fold immidiatly. And reading this diferent opinions I learn such things: all problems in poker from our fillings. Mathematic and logic thats all we need!
