Limit mistakes

The most common mistakes i see in tournament poker players that are novices is they play to many hands, and they bet out of position. Essentially try to limit your mistakes as much as possible.

pick up a book and get reading. Harrington on holdem would be a good start.

The first thing is that you musnt loose all your chips. So especially in early phase of the tournament dnt go all in. If you have larger stack try to put pressure on other players in the bubble. And dnt play just to get into the money play for going on Final Table!

. Harrington on holdem would be a good start.

I do not recommend reading this book, very obsolete information to online. You can read free e-books from Collin Moshman, Lee Nelson, Nathan Williams. These authors wrote for online poker.

Play tight on early phase, open up a bit in the mid phase as most fish were already gone and try to steal more often even with some marginal hand in the late phase. But it all depend also on your stack size and table dynamic.

What helped most for me, is stealing blinds. It works great mid to late game (early might work too, but its not worth to risk stealing such small blinds) Learn to steal blinds and you'll find yourself never being the bubble-boy and having an easier time getting ITM.

Yes sit tight in the early stages don't take unnecessary risks.. Figure out your table and identify any weak players...

Don't play out of position unless you have premium hands...

Just try to survive until deeper in the tourney and get ITM then you can open up a bit more and play aggressive to try to ultimately win

Learn to fold. Seriously, fight the urge to play a hand because you haven't played a hand in a while. Have patience, and get a handle on 3-bet and shove ranges against opens with multiple callers in order to pick up dead money. Also, always keep an eye on the lobby and know when level/pay jumps are about to happen. A 20bb stack becomes a 10bb real fast when a level jump with antes hits you.

Dont loose all your money at early stage play very tight and play only in good position. In mid stage of the tournament try to get more and more chips. At the late stage of the tournamet you have to play to reach final table:)

Early in a MTT fold fold fold until you catch the right cards. I have folded almost every hand during the first hour, only playing enough to keep my stack even. Sometimes that don't even work, because you may catch hands you can't fold and get beat anyway. The other day I had 13,000 chips and caught KK twice in a row and was called with A5 and A8 and both time they tripped up the low card. And that knocked me out, and I did not rebuy. Nothing can beat lucky flops. But when you have the upper hand after the flop, play it for all it's worth. I see so many players who will run their callers off with big bets. It's a wasted hand. GL to you

For tournament play, read Harrington on holdem.

Its conservative but effective.

Don't bluff. Don't slow play. Don't be tricky. Don't be fancy. Just play it straight. :)
