Advice please on my playing style
I havn't really developed a style for me to use and was wondering what you guys thought of this. I play at the smallest stakes on pokerstars
, and local pub games/ cash games.Basically, I only play good cards: A9 and K10 being the worse I'll play, and I'll only play them in good position. Play all pockets, and suited connectors when I and most other players have 50+ blinds.
This is one of the flaws in this style: will only call(most of the time anyway) when I have suited connectors or low pockets. An observant player would catch on to this, but I am not concerned with this at the moment. When I raise, I go 3BB+1 for every caller. When I get down to 10BB I'm not that sure what to do, people online say push-fold mode is best but I'm not completly convinced... But, I usually go all in at 10BB.
I thought that this would work great. Small risks and put people on pressure when I play. The only problem would not getting enough cards, since I mainly play turbo games. However, this strategy did not work tonight whatsoever. Perhaps I should have been more aggressive. For example, one hand I had AK and followed my raise pattern: It was a MUCH bigger raise than the other players were making. they all folded. Second hand I had AQ, raised a little less as there were not many limpers. THe player to my left reraised me 3 times. I decided against an all in, called, missed and folded to her continuation bet. She had pokets 88s. I guess I should go all in more when I think I have an edge over them? Another hand I did a decent sized raise with AK and got two callers. The flop came 10,Q and rag. I was first and for whatever reason decided to check, I was probably thinking that it was a rather scary flop. The last player to act did a decent raise and I folded.
Every time I don't win one of these hands impacts my stack rather severly, since I am playing very tight and not making my chips. From playing live for about 1:20, I probaly only played a few under 10 hands, and only limped in once with A10, and I was probably a little scared to lose another raise, and A10 isn't that good.
So, what do you guys think. Please give me honest critism
