Hi Guys,

I won the 5th ACR Freeroll I ever entered, but havent really done too well since. Mostly from lack of focus.

I wanted to reach out and see if you had any strategies for these types of tourneys.

Do you always play super tight? When do you suggest moving from super tight to more aggressive at the Final Table? With 50 people left?

Thanks.

Play a lot. Get lucky.

You have done better than most so far. Keep doing what has worked.

Would you say there is a difference in playing the ACR free roll on Demand $10 tourney vs the $0.10+0.01 Tourney in terms of strategy?

In these tournaments, many players are playing very widely. Small prizes are forced to play only for the final table. You must have a lot of luck and patience to get into prizes. Perhaps it's worth spending time on something else?

the acr 10$ are a minefield early on. play tight early and pick and choose your spots, hope to double/triple up and use your stack to abuse people. you will have to run good in flips to make it to the final table as people will shove on you light a lot. gotta win flips

I believe those $10 ACR on demand should be avoided if you're trying to improve your game. You can be super focused playing extremely disciplined but then after a while you may looses the interest seeing the small prize and the price range. Then you'll get frustrated, tilted or less disciplined and worried.

I think it's better to try freerolls with bigger prices.

I'm also quite new. I've also won a freeroll & made the final table a couple of times and also have been playing the 10 GTD. And now I don't play those because I feel it's not worth it.

I think the strategy with freerolls is all the same; play tight early and shove/call shoves when absolutely necessary (i.e. you pick up top 5-7 hands, or mid pairs after all but one folded.)

Once you have a solid stack size, play tight-aggro., but always be prepared for someone to shove out of position or with garbage. Luck is most needed in freerolls, but after late regi closes, I tend to play a lot more aggro and shove on lower stacks that won't completely dent my stack in case I take the L. Playing aggressively after late regi WITH a sizeable stack usually gets me at a FT unless I luck out/find myself tilted.

Ive got good news bad news for ya slick. Good news is ive made 100 dollars playing the ACR on demand freerolls and so can you. Bad news is it took 8 months. One strategy that I found to be successful is, in the beginning, find a hand that you want to double up with. AQ AK and TT and up. Once you've got your hand, go all in regardless of position or previous action. You most likely will be called as this is a freeroll. Hopefully your all in was successful now you've got about 3200 or so to play with. Next step is going to put most of the load on your shoulders rather than the cards. Now play either ABC poker or take a slightly more aggressive line (using position and strong holdings to pick up pots) If you make to 100/200 blinds with a stack of 6000 or more you're on the right track, from here you're looking to go back to a double up strategy. If AK or QQ are too far in between then look to mix in some middle suited connectors to catch someone off guard with a flush. The next few blind levels are critical as you need to have a stack of at least 20K by the end 400/800 if you can accomplish this then you've given yourself a good opportunity to cash.

Players tend to go all in with nothing....might as well call them or go all in yourself if you are in early position. Once you double up, play a tight aggressive game. Remember, these types of tournaments bring out the super aggressive players...and, there's another tournament 20 minutes later.

Play that freeroll is complicated, too many players go All-in fast.
It serves to practice a little, but it is learned more playing the restricted Freeroll, less players and more consistent the level of players.

I see this all the way up to $22 buy ins. Just slightly less frequently.

In these tourney"s it is nothing but a coin flip, so only play hands that you are comfortable with or you will develop some bad habits

+1

Sometimes it is better to just deposit 10.00 then spend hours and hours trying to build up a bankroll.

There are some decent free-rolls out there, that isn't one of them.....

I play much tighter and my shoving/calling range is more limited in buy ins $3+, but I agree, people still play that same strategy across micro/low buy in MTTs

You said that little attention is paid, and the game loses results - more attention and a little luck, and everything will be fine :)

Play only tilt, the early stage is very carefully to pass, the bubble is the most death in such tournaments, I have not played such freerolls for a long time, but I still remember how I started and played freerolls like that, even took second place in 100k privilege, it's a pity that the PC removed these tournaments to Unfortunately.
