You have to play aces even on the bubble. Right?

You play the cards - not the other way around - do what's best for you.

Objectively, playing is the more profitable choice. If you can't deal with a bad beat costing you a min-cash you probably shouldn't have entered the tournament.

For me the answer is easy - play for deep runs and big scores and don't sweat the small payout changes.

Good luck!

There is no bubble on mtt's. It's simply pointless to think on getting ITM on mtt..purpose is there to reach late stage.
ICM is important on SNG's, but also there are rare sutuations when you can fold AA..i am doing that only if it's a satellit and and in a situation when i'll get ticket definatelly, so no need to take risk even with AA, cause only couple guys has to be out, while i have big enough stack just to fold and get a ticket.

Depends on various factors, the size of your stack, entry fee and consider the site if it is online.

I wouldn't risk all my chips on a 1k + buy in, but would play it otherwise. If I am chip leader at my table, I may push or try and build.

Small entry $10 or less, go for it to go deep.

On the sites where AA constantly gets cracked wait for the money unless there is little risk of getting knocked out

If true bubble and you are not a short stack, or busting a shorter stack, why throw 'n' hours work away on a coin flip or even 30% chance of being cracked. Treat it as a raise and no callers, dang and move on.

AA is never a coin flip preflop. Is more like 80% most the time. I'm never folding AA at bubble, I'm looking to double and get in position for deep run

Well are you looking to win or just to cash? You get dealt aces so rarely and they're very profitable so I play them regardless of the bubble. It's a great chance to put together a bigger stack and challenge for the win.

It really does depend on what is at risk vs potential reward.
For one player just getting ITM may be a satisfaction that shouldn't be denied. For another it may be full speed ahead to the final table because going deep is more meaningful.
Thank goodness there isn't a one-size-fits-all because, how boring.

I would never fold Aces preflop. I don't care if I'm on the bubble. I try and win mtt not just cash. If I bust all in preflop with aces so be it. I know that at least I played good and make the right decision. If the min cash was $1000 or more then maybe I'll consider folding to multiple all ins 😂

I would play AA and more if I have few chips, if I have enough chips but very carefully, high pairs are dangerous in bubbles, you just have to see how the rest of the table is playing, if the chip leader is very aggressive or not , are several factors to be able to determine how I would play

depends on the tournament, if the first paid prize is interesting (I folded them recently on a stars reward tourney, first prize was 3,30, not bad for a freeroll). I get dealt aces soooo many times on the bubble and get kicked by another pair hits set or a straight/flush, that I'm sure they deal good cards on the bubble more often, to speed up the game...

I don't think I could fold them unless it was on the bubble to win a seat to a bigger tourney and I was pretty much 100% to get that seat on a fold because there were a couple other people with similar size stacks already all in on the hand. That's probably the only time I could fold AA (I never have though.) Sometimes the bubble phase goes on longer than you think as small stacks double up so you don't want to have your stack diminishing not playing hands like AA and realize that you are going to have to play something inferior some time later.

Yes and worse hands than that, don't be afraid to make moves in general. Only in a satellite is rational to fold any hand if there are smaller stacks than you!

Well according to Pokerstove against 6 random hands, table near the bubble for instance AA is 43.5% to 9.4% for each of the others.

Against 2 it's 73% and heads up yes 85% to 15%, versus a pair 81.5% or so.

Versus two middle pairs and a AQ which is also a realistic set of calls depending on your stack size about 57% to win.

Depending on the situation the right move is to fold. Yesterday I busted out of a tourney from well placed in two hands. KK all in against 55 and he hit the set on the river. Next hand AA with a reasonable stack called by bigger stacked JJ, probably thought I was tilting a little, which hit his set on the flop. If I had been on the bubble with one player to beat to get paid I would have mucked both of those without any hesitation just because that's how I play to win. You can't win the tourney if you bust out on an ill timed all in.

I agree with most of people there that most of time you should play regardless of bubble time. I think the only case of folding could be if it's a very expensive tourney for you, you got there from freerolls/sattellites or using a ticket, the prize is too high for you, let's say you have never played such a tourney before, and with all this said getting ITM is very important for you and your bankroll. Or maybe on some sattellites where there is no difference between places paid. I almost always play aces on regular tourneys (not sattellites with same places) no matter whether it't bubble or not. It's just too strong hand to be mucked. The same with QQ and KK. Most of time, you should play.

Although you may lose with AA in any given hand, even if all in preflop, that should not deter you from playing. If you are on the bubble of an MTT, you will almost always want to play AA. If you have a big stack, then you should not worry about busting. If you have a short stack, then you will want to double up and AA is the best hand with which to double up. The only situation where you would want to fold AA preflop is if the expected value from folding and making more money in payouts outweighs the expected value of playing the AA and making more chips and giving yourself a better chance to win the tournament.

If you don't play aces on the bubble, what would you play? My suggestion would be play it and play it hard as in all in preflop.

Aces can be a tough hand to play, unless you hit a set it can be hard to know where you are at. While there are a few times I would consider folding AA preflop, they are few and far between. As others posted, what hand are you waiting for?

Bubble

Personally i think you play to win in most cases you can't bother your self just sitting there staring at the bubble. you need to make sure you are setting yourself up for a deep run where the real money is at.

Definitely play aces on bubble. Don’t necessarily have to go all in but can’t not see the flop. Sometimes you can play too tight on bubble and then don’t get a hand after to move up.

I would expect the bubble to explode if I have a lot of chips, if I need chips to survive the bubble I would play them without hesitation because I have to risk to win
