Hi guys,

I was in micro MTT, large field, blinds 7000/14000, 15BB, late stage. The guy in the lowjack, biggest stack at the table, had around 30BB, and for the last 10 hands he was minrasing a lot.

He was also an active player 27/22.

He minraised and I shoved. I consider that it was a good maybe, aggressive move, but I saw it as steal opportunity. He had KK:).

What is your opinion on this?

depending on the number of chips you have such as the Blinds are 1000/500 you have only 11k of chips, yes you would have to give all in with A5o!

Not a bad shove. What were the antes? Maybe if you wanted to you could have folded and waited for another hand. But all in all good move I mean you never know the ace comes and you double up.

I think is a nice shove. You identified the villain as a loose aggresive player. An Ace always will be a good hand card and it got stronger as higher the kicker is or how suited and connected too. But poker has this things, and variance was this KK. Keep plying your game at long terms will be more profits than loses.

Sorry for my english.

people show aggression to steal blinds and limp with a hand like to get action. When in doubt, 3 bet a little more than minimum and hope you get a fold. If he calls and continues betting, he probably has a good hand. You can then play accordingly, save chips to play another hand especially if it is better.

I think that's an ok shove when you have only 10 blinds left. Late stages in a tournament I've rarely seen a player only min raise with KK so I think an A5o shove isn't terrible, because It's hard to think a player is super strong with a min raise late in a tournament. I'd think a min raise would represent a weak Ace.

That's how you disguise it to get action.

The antes are necessary to give a better assessment. But realistically, it doesn't matter all that much, as antes likely give him enough value to call any two cards he raised with. With that said, with his LAG style, A5 is way ahead of his range, and you're in good position to double up. But range is range because you can't put him on only two cards, and sometimes he has a statistically improbably good holding that will have you crushed. You probably made a fine shove, which becomes even more fine when you consider antes and effective BB.

in my opinion you made it right, you should push everything with your A5of, it is a + EV move for sure. If you hit an A on the flop, turn, you doubled. Play well friend do not punish yourself for it.
