A small casino just started tournament play, and he puts in another $300. in the pot. So, he was chip leader at the table and playing pretty loose. I made it to top 12 and then lost.

When I left I was wondering if he had any risk since he owned the casino and would you play in a tournament if the owner of the casino was playing?

So much of the answer depends on other information. Generally speaking I wouldn't have an issue with it. Basically, if I trust the establishment enough to gamble there, it doesn't really matter whether the owner participates or not.

Your not playing against the house in poker, just against other players. Unless of course all the other participators worked for the casino and it was a big scam I don't think you should worry..

Besides which, being a casino owner there's nothing else he could play (which would win/lose him money as he'd always win regardless) Maybe he's a very tight man and wants all the profits possible so tries his luck in poker and if he's any good can walk away with even more money in his back pocket.
