Don't play as many hands as you probably normally do.

no limping, except maybe with pocket pairs, keep an eye on all your opponents and their tendencies, are they loose/tight etc, dont be afraid of being aggressive when you need to be, put your opponents on ranges and keep an eye on their betting habits i.e do they bet big when they have it small when they dont! just some general advice that might help your best bet though is watching videos and improving that way!

my advice would be, until the antes come in play really tight, especially for the first few bind levels, fold every hand bar A Q+ and mostly all pairs in order to set mine, and ofcourse 10's+ for value.
look out for the really bad player(s) at your table and wait for a good hands and value bet them.
once the antes come in i start to steal from the button and late positons with rubbish hands sometimes- if the blinds are tight players then mostly all the time, however if they are loose or fish i just raise with good hands and don't steal v them. try to be aggressive when in pots and if your opponent seems weak then manipulate this with a bluff.
and also, bar accumulating chips through steals etc., my biggest tip to do well in a mtt is try not to make one mistake. it it okay if the pot is tiny obviously, but in big or medium pots, or tough spots you have to never tilt or make a call when you are 95% sure you are behind/ drawing dead. there is countless times in mtt's i have got a big stack then through one tilty call/ shove or whatever has blown my chances of a big cash or final table or whatever.
good luck!

Play tight. Get a little looser in position if you think you can steal. Biggest thing for me is I always seem to go deep when I play only premium hands. I can't count how many dollar frenzy's or other cheaper tourneys I have finished in top 20 just using this and stealing a bit.

Try to look early at as many flops as you can cheap! Late in the tournament tightened up, don't limp in. Look for betting patterns in your opponents play, and try to capitalize on them.
