more info is helpful, like reads you have on villain
a9 not the best hand to call an allin with (with more to act after you),
but with 20k blinds, you gotta make moves,
you did have him covered, and as him being a smaller stack his range could be wide...
were you in the money already? how many people were left?

It was a sat, there was 3 seats, I ended up coming 6th. I m thinking it was a fold now but at time I felt I could be ahead as the villain pushed in late position with hands like K 10o, Q Jo with sightly larger stack.

It's not just a matter of whether you're ahead of his range, not unless you're satisfied being a 51/49 favorite. If not, then meta-factors weigh in - like how much of a favorite you need to be to justify risking 60% of your stack. That determines the range you have to be able to put him on to call. For instance, if you feel you need to be a 2:1 favorite to call, your concern is whether he'll shove wide enough for your hand to be this far ahead, not just ahead.

With these stack sizes i would fold. We are in 3/8 position and we dont really need risk our chips in that spot, when there are just 3 tickets.

This should be an easy fold. I think that with villain having a 6bb stack he is going to be in a push/fold mode and if he shoves its going to be near the top of his range, and A9 is too marginal to call with

So is this final table? If so, this is a fold for sure.
(check out the sizes of all player's stacks)

Posting information that is relevant to the situation is a must if you want to get decent responses.

The fact it was a sat makes this ABSOLUTELY AWFUL.

A9 is a fine hand to play 6 handed; open raise with it, sure. If stacks are deep even call a raise with it in position. facing a perceived button steal, maybe even go all in with it yourself....but it's just not good enough to call an all in with...especially if it's a big chunk of your stack.

even vs. a short stack all in who you think is shoving wide; even if you think he is shoving as wide as the top 50%of hands you still only have 56% chance to win. Think he's shoving any 2 cards? You're still only 60% to win. if you think he's shoving any tighter than top 20% of hands here then he's actually ahead. (and by the way, top 20% includes such hands as KJo and 33)

I didn't say before that I think it's a very easy fold. In second place of 6 with 3 tickets up for grabs, plus two pretty short stacks, I'm not looking to call off more than half my stack without significantly better cards than A9o.

If I fold, I have a pretty good chance to win a ticket. If I call and win, that goes up to very good. If I lose though, it drops to quite bad. On balance, it's not worth calling with a fairly mediocre hand.

Based on the fact it's a satellite and you are risking that big a % of chips I would find the fold there
