On a tournament which do you prefer?

i would say that on a 6-max its easier to win pots and steal blinds.. But you need to play more agressive and a wide range of hands.

On a full ring its easier to get a read on what a player is holding and you can take your time to play premium hands.

But i want to know what do you think is best.. Pros and Cons.

you can be more agressive on 6max, but big problem on early stages catch all in calls with your nuts. about reads not sure, for me no big difference.

Full ring always will be much easier because in 6max you have to play more hands, it means more postflop game and need more to make decisions. In 6max a lot of situations where it is necessary steals, also requires skill..

These days i hear a lot of people talking about how they would always choose 6max tables over full ring ones...And i'v got an interest explanation, they say its because they have a better chance to avoid a possibility to run on monster hands, AA, KK or so...But i would agree with you, 6max can make you play more agressive so i would always choose full ring as an option :) Cheers!

I think your initial post sums up the pros and cons pretty well. If you're a naturally aggressive type, play 6-max; if you favour restrained and patient play, go with 9-seaters.

I don't think that playing one particular sort of table will make you a better player more quickly than any other. Tournament poker is tournament poker. The basic skills are the same, no matter how many seats the tables have.

6-max is more action. I like to play more action, becomes I enjoy poker but I love playing full ring all the same :) For cash games and zoom I prefer 6max, for MTT's and SnG's it can be full ring too.

If im not playing my full multitabling 9max mtts I like to throw in a 6max or 2 as they are more action packed and when im playing less tables, I find I wont get bored and can wait for spots in my 9max if im playing a 6max or 2.

Other than that, id prefer to play a full quota of 9max MTTs, that way im playing the same format across all my games so I dont have to change my playing style too much across these games.

At the (much) lower stakes that I play at, I feel full ring provides the best environment to win. With a larger player amount you can play with more anonymity due to most players not looking (or knowing/caring) too much, allowing you to get more chance to be paid off by premium hands. Of course as the tournament progresses this changes, but for the most part I prefer full ring.
