Well guys today I played my first poker tournament at a local casino just wanted to run by a hand I played see what you guys think

I had seven ten clubs and was the big blind

villain called third player called and once it came around to me I checked.

flop comes 6 7 7 (he has full house) ( I have trips)

I check villain checks third player bets 400

I go all in villain calls third player folds out

turn is a 10 and the river is a king

Villain flips over 6 7 loses to my 7 10

After the hand the third player that folded out was extremely pissed off saying I played the hand wrong and should have bet right away instead of checking and then reraising and I didn't feel like explaining myself to him but my reasoning is that the villain to my left was constantly betting and bluffing and even when he flopped the full house I didn't believe he had anything to challenge my trip sevens

well hopefully this was enough details to get some insight if I did the right play here

also later on I managed to bust out both of these guys which made me very happy and then to top things off I finished in the money

Congrats on the cash, lecturing on how to play is generally what losers do to pass the time while the winner stacks his chips, pay em no mind. :)

haha thank you it's what I was guessing aswell I decided to slowplay it as they were somewhat aggressive and it's not the first time he went off on another player

"excuse me sir just because I am mexican and a dishwasher does not mean I don't know how to play poker"

he actually said that to another player when the the player folded to him and asked if he bluffed his raise

again being new to casino tournament play this was all a shock to me.

Hard to tell if your check-shove was bad or not. Depends on how much you had behind. If it was for another 1200 or so, I think you made the right move.

2 players limping pre-flop should get the lecture... the "third player" should have raised if he thought the villain was weak pre-flop.

Congrats on the cash.

Congrats on the cash.

they each had over 2x my stack which is why they stayed around and I busted them later on during the tourney

i believe i had 2500ish or so with 200/400 blinds after I put in the big blind that left me 2100 and once he raised if i wanted to call with my trips I woulda had 1700ish and at an aggressive table I felt like it was the correct I can see where it wasn't but I got lucky with a caller and an amazing turn and increased my chip stack by a pretty decent amount

I am confused a bit here with your reasoning:confused:
You didn't believe he had anything to challenge your trip sevens because he was constantly betting and bluffing. Why did you raise him on the flop then? Wouldn't it be better to just call and then let them bet again on the turn?
Doesn't your raise just make him fold all his bluffs? (if you thought he didn't have anything to challenge your trip sevens).

The villain that was bluffing I didn't put anything on but that third guys bet kinda made me scared that he had a higher pair and I didn't want him to hit his trips or even give him a chance to see daylight

Your goal for raising shouldn't be because of being scared of a player drawing to 2 outs. Instead, raise if you figure he does have an overpair & is willing to call it off.

(sidenote: so sick. I'm posting on a thread my stepdaughter is posting on. omg! LoL)

When he limps oop pre you can obv take him off any decent overpair. So when you check raise otf you're generally only getting called by a better hand (ex. a7 66 56). Could've played a little better imo.

But he shouldn't have called you out for getting it in with trips. You should have said thanks for open limping oop with 56

If you never explain your play at the table, you will very seldom if ever go wrong.

I agree with Maddie that you misplayed it by raising the flop but sounded like you were very short so calling along would've sounded obv so it's hard to say without reads. But as it goes your question seemed to be about straight betting which I wouldn't advocate in the situation and it seems if you're asking if you're right when you know the guy was an idiot. And wrong.

Hard to say if the play was right with no details(blinds, stacks, pos atleast)
But still it was a good play if you knew the guy was c-betting most times...
And you don't even say the board texture, if it was kinda of coordinated i don't know if I like the ch, but if it was an uncoordinated board totally fine to let him bluff with his c-bet or even gave them a free card so that they can hit a little bit of the board...
And the guy with 67 limped from where?no info..
