Merge has this promo going where they have a freeroll and the top 125 of the freeroll get a $109 tourney ticket.

To get access to the freeroll you gotta earn 250 points in a week, ez peazy.

I qualified for freeroll, and came in the top 125 of about 750 players.

Any advice for this huge entry tourney i'm gonna play in?????

sell action for .80 cents on the dollar
In other words half of your winning (If there will be any) for $43.60
.80 might be too high :)

i'm in it with you. i haven't played too many deep stack tournaments but i would think it would be correct to play much looser early than you would in most MTT's. suited connectors and pairs are going to be huge stack builders if you have a few bad players at your table. even suited one gappers and off suit connectors will have value playing this deep.

stacks will be deep for about the first hour. i plan to see alot of flops (as long as it's cheap or i'm the aggressor) in the early rounds.

I have played this via freeroll a couple times....Expect pretty terrible play overall, but there are a few regs who are quite good. Structure is good enough you dont have to be in a hurry...Like everyone is saying, just play tight early and hammer the mofos when you get a big hand. Best of luck!

of course not... i thought i was going to have an easy time cashing when i got moved to table 4. the whole table had 15k+ and the guy on my left was apparently sitting out (insta-folded utg). was all set to steal my way to victory but the guy on my right wasn't gonna let me go so easily. lol

had numerous solid hands i could have shipped but he was in everyone of them. actually folded JJ at one point. obviously happy i did since i got a seat but would be kicking myself if i didn't.
he didn't make it easy on me.

gl, see you at the FT. :ciao:

Look forward to how the tourney goes ,I have 3 of these tickets and was waiting til I got 6 to play them a bunch of weeks running. Yes it is a long term and ambitious goal but that's how I am.

Congrats Patty. Hope you make ITM. I won one of those tokens and used it to play one of the 109$ Maximus tournaments, but didn't make any money. :(

I also played it over a year ago (maybe 2 years ago), when it was 50000$ guaranteed and finished in the top 40, winning 400$.

Good luck.

Don't assume you have to change your game in general. There will be plenty of people in it who normally play well below this level and against whom you can pretty much play your normal game. The key is to identify as quickly as possible who fits in this category, who doesn't because they seem stronger than you're used to, and who the poor ones are. Then adjust accordingly; unless you get a bad table draw, you shouldn't have to change too much in the early going.

How much do you have to play to pick up 250pts. on merge? (I never play on there).

10 cents in rake is 1 point unless you have rakeback then it's .65 points.
so $25 in rake or with RB $38.50 in rake. easily done.

scope everyone on your table and colour code based on results, other than that take flips whenever presented and exploit people who raise/fold or bet/fold or raise/call or call 3bets to much or 3bet too much etc. just watch people and take notes.

look for good cold 4bet spots and squeeze spots. people wont really assume you are going to be light when they look up your results
