Hey!I just made it into the 1000$ weekly freeroll through full tilt's freeroll(was about 18 of the 250 remaining) and I was just wondering what strategy I should use on sunday...

There are actually a whole lot of players and they're already at 11000 for up to 30000 and only about the 90 first people get to cash!So I wanna know if anyone has already played or won this, and if they did what kind of advice can you offer me?(Early, mid, late styles?...)

And one more thing...What happens if I register again in a freeroll to qualify to the weekly 1000$?do I get FTPs or something?Anybody tried this? Thanks!

On a side note...Does the BLT play the same way since they both have a very large pool of players?

That tournament is a crapshoot. I've played twice and gotten 900 and 300. The chances of cashing in that tourney are even worse than the chances of the regular 7500 freeroll. All I can say is try to get chips early and good luck. Also, I do not believe you get anything if you earn another ticket

You don't earn another ticket if you place in the top 250 again. Early on they used to have the Unregister button available, but the last time I checked, once you're registered there's no button available to unregister, which is good so you don't unregister by accident.

For at least one tourney it was a turbo, which cuts down on the 5 hours or so it usually takes to get ITM. My best finish is 207th (non-turbo). Agree the 7500 freerolls is better than the amount of time spent for this one.

I've qualified twice for the the $1k freeroll. You can expect about 20k players. A lot will not even show up (I would guess about a 1/3, maybe even half). But even with the no-shows, it's tough to get in the top 90 out of that many people. Good luck.

I made it twice. Once my entire table did not show up other than me. After a while of blind "stealing" i was unfortunately moved to another table (after getting about 1/2 their chips).

Maybe a strategy can be to try to steal blinds from players that are absent and/or try to eliminate players that show up, so you get get a table with no one there. Otherwise, i had some success playing a loose agressive style.

not quite sure where i placed, but both times a few hours in I got bored and all-inned out.

I suggest making sure you have time to play and making sure you will have the energy to make it through 5+ hours of poker.
maybe get a buddy of equal skill and take 1-2h turns playing.

Worst. Freeroll. Ever. Don't even bother with it, you might cash if you get AA every hand, other than that I have no other strategy for beating this crapshoot lol.

what seems to work for me in these donkathons is to push all in with any big hand early -- AA, KK, AK, maybe QQ. you can't play these hands the way you would normally -- such as raising 3x BB and c-betting on the flop -- because you're going to get half a dozen callers with a wide range of hands that pretty much eliminates the value of your big PP after the flop. you're almost always going to run into 2 pair or a nut draw that makes you even money at best. also, by shoving pre flop, you're almost always going to get 1 or 2 callers with a marginal hand -- either a donkey or someone who thinks you're a donkey.

also, i try to limp when in position and the pot hasn't been raised -- it doesn't matter which 2 cards i'm holding, it's rare in the early stages of these tourneys that someone isn't pushing all in, so if you get an opportunity to see a cheap flop you should take it. nothing like busting the guy who slow played aces and you catch 2 pair with your 8-4 offsuit.

as the tourney progresses, people actually start trying to play decent poker -- the main concern should be surviving the early all in fest and taking advantage of your best hands. don't be afraid of chasing everyone out by pushing all in with aces -- about 80% of the time you'll get at least one caller. this is much better than allowing 6 players to see a flop.

Ok so i decided to try it myself and this is what I found:
3 bad beats and 2 unbelievable hands by the same guy!(Yes u can read chicken which pretty much means he had the j and later he admitted to me)

I mean I'm good and i play good hands and good poker as u can c and the all ins were pre-flop must do ones, and ewven on the straight i minimized my losses, but even as well as i played the same player kept on beating me again and again no matter the odds and I could suffer 5 times before being knocked out of the tourney!

Seriously impossible! I'm sure I couldn't have done anything I just want to know was it possible for me to win or is it just predetermined that I lose?this could have gone on longer and u c the number of cards i played eventually i was gonna be pitted a 3rd time AK against AA(and yes it did happen twice and i lost) and be eliminated!!!Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

A couple of thoughts -

It's a freeroll. Don't expect players to be experts in how to play the game.

A couple of the hands he played aren't that terrible.

Don't be results oriented. Make the best decisions you can, accept that even your best decisions will not always win.

Not everybody understands that bad beats are part of the game, and that if bad beats didn't happen, that poker would not be profitable. If you really learn and understand that, and how it applies practically to your game, and you will have a much richer understanding of the game.

Everybody takes bad beats, we've all been there, and believe me, we've seen worse than these.

note the fundamental law of gambling, a series of good beds makes for a bad bet. the more good bets you make, the higher the probability you wind up with 0. (assuming all the bets are all-in types)

i.e. if, over the course of the tourney you make nothing but 80% all-in bets. Say you make 30 of them in that freeroll. The odds are still EXTREMELY low you will win. New players tend to go for these types of bets.

2 ways to deal with this,
1-play it basically like a long drawn out lotto making good bets consistently, but accept that your skill level will NOT make you the favorite.
2-only go in for 95%+ bets (i.e. taking advantage of all-in with less than nuts moves post-flop, when you have the nuts) - of course, the problem here is your likely to wind up short-stacked while waiting.

It is a complete crapshoot. I would try to steal the blinds of players that are not at the tables witch could easily be 5-6 people. Its not about "real" poker in the begging really as people will be going all in with crap to try to either double up quick, or just be done with 5 hour plus tourney. So you play your big hands AA KK AK etc as all ins with the clowns in the begininng. If you don't get anything big do not play the hand unless you are stealing the blinds

Good luck winning the tournament. This tournament is going to be tough because there are so many people in. Personally, I've stopped playing in this tournaments because I felt like it was the worth the time. You are better off playing in private tournaments. Higher payout and fewer people.

I find all the freeroles on Fulltilt to be a waste of time. You have to get an incredibly high finish to make any money at all, it just isn't worth the time. I don't play any of them anymore, not seriously at least; they just made me mad losing to some fool who gets lucky.
If you want to make some money on FT go through the Poker Academy. It's only a once a month tournament, and you have to attend poker school, but they pay 500 and some places, about one fifth of all entered, a minimum of five dollars. I've tried it three times and cashed every time; only about $20 in total but it gives me something to play with.

i qualify for the sunday freeroll usually every week
i play these for fun mainly and dont take it to seriously
of all the times i have played it
i have cashed once ($2) lol
you have to be VERY lucky
as you will be called by complete luckers all the time
there is really no strategy i can think of
except really tight /shove hope for the best
if you make it to last 200 or so
you can start playing poker
its mainly a crapshoot
if you take these games seriously
they will drive you crazy
what i mean is try to play your best game
but dont be affected by the results
i get rivered by donk calls every week
but its all good FUN
good luck m8
