Lets say you have been playing for 2 hours and have 30BB near the bubble time and you have a hand like 10-9os.

Everyone else folds and you have two more players. with the 10-9os is it a good play to raise 2.5x to 3 x or is it just ok to fold here?

What do you guys think?

Both are ok.
If there is a fish or fishes you should fold. To big risk that the fish wants to be a hero and defend the blinds. A nit 10/8 is clear raise. Its not a mistake neither way. Only way you can play this wrong is by go all in..

near the bubble i would probably fold this hand. maybe with 10 9 suit i can make a min raise however i would only like to get involved with good hands near the bubble unless i have a deep stack, in that case i might take advantage of my stack and play more aggresive near the bubble against shorter stacks.

Depends on players behind you and their stack sizes. If you have them covered and they seem not to resist very much, you can raise with almost any 2 in this spot. Otherwise I would probably fold.

It's a pretty easy open if you think the players are weak/passive and conscious of the bubble. If you think the players are very skilled, playing to win, and conscious of your level 2 thought process then you would be better off folding.

Or you could open light with the expectation that you will get 3bet, knowing full well your going to 4bet shove!

poker really is just a big leveling game at the highest levels, so it is pretty much just player dependent.

If the players left are somewhat tight, I would definitely open.

Chances are, I would steal the pot.

If players are loose, I would rather fold and move on.

Aggression near the bubble can pay off, as many tighten up to get into the money. 2x usually does it. That being said, you also have to look at what the stack size of the blinds are. If less than you, you can get away with it. If substantially more, you could easily get 3 bet, so you only lose 2x. Or fold in this instance if they are deep and defend a lot.

So, it's not your hand (10-9 or 2-7), it's position and the others stack size.
