I was playing pokerstars TV freeroll today and I have quite strange situation. It started from this hand:

----------------------------------------------------

No Limit Hold'em Tournament T15/T30
Buy-in: Freeroll Hold'em No Limit
PokerStars
9 players

Stacks:
UTG - UTG (T1*350)
UTG+1 - UTG+1 (T1*470)
UTG+2 - UTG+2 (T1*470)
MP - MP (T1*500)
MP2 - Hero (T1*335)
CO - CO (T1*490)
BTN - BTN (T1*310)
SB - SB (T1*450)
BB - BB (T3*625)

Preflop: (T45, 9 players) Hero is MP2 with K<font color='black'>♣</font> K<font color='red'>♥</font>
4 folds, Hero raises to T72, 1 fold, BTN calls T72, 2 folds

Flop: 9<font color='black'>♠</font> 8<font color='black'>♣</font> Q<font color='red'>♥</font> (T189, 2 players)
Hero bets T120, BTN raises to T1*238 (all-in), Hero calls T1*118

Turn: 4<font color='black'>♣</font> (T2*665, 2 players, 1 all-in)

River: 8<font color='red'>♦</font> (T2*665, 2 players, 1 all-in)

Total Pot: T2*665
Hero shows K<font color='black'>♣</font> K<font color='red'>♥</font> (two pair, Kings and Eights)
BTN shows 8<font color='red'>♥</font> J<font color='red'>♥</font> (three of a kind, Eights)

BTN wins T2*665

-----------------------------------------------------

Pretty ugly spot, some donk re-raises all in with second pair and gets there on the river. At this point I am left with 25 chips, which is less than 1BB (30). So I want to click close as I didn't have high expectations on this tourney anyway.

But then I am like whatever and just raise all in very next hand which is 78s.

----------------------------------------------------

MP - Hero (T25)

Board: 7<font color='black'>♣</font> 6<font color='red'>♦</font> Q<font color='red'>♦</font> A<font color='red'>♦</font> J<font color='black'>♣</font> (T2*725, 3 players, 2 all-in)

Total Pot: T2*725
SB shows J<font color='red'>♥</font> A<font color='black'>♠</font> (two pair, Aces and Jacks)
BB shows K<font color='black'>♣</font> K<font color='black'>♠</font> (a pair of Kings)
Hero shows 7<font color='red'>♦</font> 8<font color='red'>♦</font> (a flush, Ace high)

SB wins T2*650 from side pot
Hero wins T75 from main pot

----------------------------------------------------

BTN - Hero (T135)

Board: T<font color='black'>♣</font> A<font color='black'>♠</font> T<font color='red'>♥</font> 6<font color='red'>♦</font> 2<font color='black'>♠</font> (T285, 2 players, 1 all-in)

Total Pot: T285
BB shows A<font color='black'>♣</font> 8<font color='red'>♦</font> (two pair, Aces and Tens)
Hero shows T<font color='black'>♠</font> J<font color='red'>♥</font> (three of a kind, Tens)

Hero wins T285

----------------------------------------------------

From now on, I actually started to believe, that I can come back. History of this comeback looks something like:

I shoved with Q<font color='red'>♥</font> 9<font color='red'>♥</font> over UTG limper for 10BB and got a call from button and the limper. Board came Q<font color='black'>♠</font> 9<font color='red'>♦</font> T<font color='black'>♣</font> 4<font color='red'>♥</font> 3<font color='red'>♥</font>.

Not sure if this was the best shove, because with almost 10BB I could wait for a bit better holding, but this time it won over villains J<font color='black'>♠</font> T<font color='black'>♠</font> on UTG and A<font color='red'>♥</font> K<font color='red'>♥</font>.

At this point, I can say I came back from the dead. I had 45BB, which was healthy stack and I was ready to roll. Sadly, few hands later, I was back to 4BB! I saw limp from Lojack and then call on SB and I looked at A<font color='black'>♣</font> 9<font color='black'>♣</font> on BB. Easy shove imo, I don't really want to play medium ace OOP and while it happens sometimes that villains limp with monsters on freerolls, it is not that frequent I think. So I shove, Lojack shows A<font color='red'>♦</font> 6<font color='red'>♦</font>, now I am really happy with my shove. But villain gets there on the river on board K<font color='red'>♦</font> A<font color='red'>♥</font> 4<font color='black'>♠</font> 7<font color='red'>♦</font> 8<font color='red'>♦</font>.

At this point I am like "whatever" and I shove over two limps with 7<font color='red'>♦</font> 8<font color='black'>♣</font> on the SB as again I think they will limp very wide range. Not the best hand actually, but at this point I am totally like "whateeeeeever". I got two calls, there is some action postflop and MP limper folds. I take it down on 5<font color='red'>♦</font> 8<font color='red'>♥</font> 9<font color='black'>♣</font> 9<font color='red'>♥</font> K<font color='black'>♠</font> vs villains Q<font color='red'>♦</font> 3<font color='red'>♦</font>. I am back to 12 BB!

Next round I wait, cause I am getting mainly rags. Strangly enough I got AKo, 5 hands later JJ and AKo again 2 hands later. Back to 50BB again.

I finally busted this tourney on the hand I asked about in another thread: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/tou...51/freeroll-nlhe-mtt-freeroll-kqs-oop-327827/

I know it would make much better story, if I won or at least final tabled this tourney, but it was like 18k players turbo, so you know, I was quite sure that this is the most likely outcome anyway.

I am posting this, because I think that it is quite interesting rollercoaster and as a reminder to myself if I start whining about how unlucky I am when some bad beat comes (and it will ;)).

I have the same tendency to want to close the table with half a bb or whatever. But 1 time I did this, had 1bb early in freeroll, ended up getting to over 10bb and hanging around stealing blinds, till I had a stack to play post flop with and ended up coming in 8th.
