Hey I play these formats on partypoker quite a lot and I was just wondering how much of a bankroll should I have to be playing these tournaments to avoid being crushed by variance?

For beginners and small bankroll is not recommended to play Hypers. A bankroll below 150 buy-ins is not a good idea to play.

Yeah hyper short handed games are going to have the most variance with players shoving any two cards at certain points trying to outlast the blinds. I'd say that at least 50 buy-ins at the $1.10 stake, then wait till you have won 50 buy-ins for the $2.20 games (so $110) or just start with the $110 for the $2.20 and go from there. I'd advise starting at the smaller stake and working your way up though just because the difficulty of the games will grow as the stake does so you want to make sure you get good at the lower stakes before moving up to the higher stakes. Best of luck to you!

300 buy ins for hyper turbos will be good enough to handle all the variance they offer :)
