I just wonder how safely most people play their straights versus a possible flush draw.
So let's say you hit a straight on the flop. The flop has three hearts and you have no hearts in the pocket.
How carefully do you play this situation when a player pushes all in? How about when a player bets aggressively but not all-in?
I've been "screwed" a lot recently by playing such hands too aggressively. Most of the time I am going against a player who has one heart in the pocket. Sometimes the opponent has two hearts in the pocket but not that often.
Lately, I've been folding all-in bets but calling aggressive bets. I'll often find that aggressive bets will be followed by a check if a heart does not come on the turn in which case I push all my chips in (sometimes I get screwed doing this too...lol). Of course, if I am in late position and no one has bet anything, I'll be aggressive and try to steal the pot right there.
What would you do?
