Hi guys. I am trying my best to play by the book in FR tournaments and that is tight solid and aggresive, especially in the early stages. But it seems everyone is playing to loose. Every time there are 3-4 callers when I have a strong holding, and i get bad beats too many times. You can never steal the blinds and don't even think about bluffing or CB. The only option that remains is to shove when you think you're the best and even then you get called to often by too many people. I could really use your opinion on this one. Thanks.

i have the same problem man. it's weird. in loose games like fr tournies or low stake mtts its so hard to play by the book when people are morons and and make strategies like cbetting 3betting etc useless. the way i work around it is waiting for good hands and use a little of their own medicine. never be the aggressor early. let them come to you. Patience is a virtue. eventually you'll beat a few people for their stacks and enter mid game where you are sitting with with people who are scared money because the closer to the bubble and the end the more protective of their stacks. stay away from loose players. only get in pots with players u know are scared. wait for said scared player to hit a mediocre hand and milk him down. thats my strategies. I'm new to this community and im a aCR player. hopefully soon ill get the password to the freerolls. Good luck brother and just study up.

Man, shoving is not the answer. You need to know how to win enough chips when you have some really good hand so you might lose in other times.

play freerolls and read how much you can about the game and when you feel ready deposit some $ and see if you can make. i played freerolls many months and it did not help my game too much only the preflop strategies. good luck

That's a realy good question. In the firt level, it's always all-in during freeroll. I didn't know how to play this level. Thanks for the link. I will read it.

Be patience, play only with position and good hands. Avoid going all in in the first 10 hands with crap.

I mean I think if you can survive freerolls and try to build a bankroll it works for certain players... If you can survive the all in donk fests early on then it does become real poker, and it can be a good skill builder, it can teach you how to tighten up and to sit back and play ur hands at the right spot...

You can test only a portion of skills used in poker, and that is probably only counting odds (the probability of you hitting X in Y street, pot odds,etc.). Some things that would work in normal games do not work in freerolls, for example bluffing. It is near impossible to bluff your opponent out if even if he only has a back-door low flush draw, especially in earlier stages of the freeroll.

if you want to be professional, move quickly for some pay tourneys, even micro cash, freerolls are good for beginner learnings, but later they can destroy your good habits and skills

Freerolls aren't a good indicator of your skill level, because they are so easy too beat.

i would not agree that freerols are easy to beat.
tons of fish - yes
but still - varience is much higher then in regular MTT
good way to start from. and learn - but lots of wrong play moves (limp calls etc)

It's not the same playing freerolls or playing real money tournaments. I believe that we can test some skills but not all. The major Freeroll players increase the risk hand than usual Money players. In freerolls you don't have nothing to lose. You should play poker always the same in order to grow up in decisions to take and built a standard in your poker game.

You can use them to practice doing the basics. Freerolls are pretty useless for trying to hand read though.

Early stage of freeroll usually a donkfest,if you managed to get deep then maybe you could find some quality play.

In early and mid stage you cant but in the late stage people play smarter so if you survive trought final table youre a very good player

Freerolls are very easy to beat. If you're having trouble with those fields, you need to work on the basics of your game. Solid ABC poker will crush in freeroll tournies.
